Best thermals - planning ahead

Gah, wrote v detailed post then it vanished.

In short: looking for best thermal leggings. Want high waist with deep waistband, not a thin one that will cut me in half. Bonus points for not black. Will be worn probably under a pair of joggies while working from home.

Daughter has lovely polka dot thermal tops from M&S and hoping they'll have similar this year and in matching leggings. Am I dreaming? And that they'll go up to age 16 to fit my size 10 bottom. Nothing online yet.

I got some M&S ones last year. They had a few different colours and some patterned tops - I got a striped long sleeve top. They definitely kept me warm.

I have Uniglo ones. I really like the thermal shorts as they have a deep waist band that you can pull up. Their tops are also warm but very thin so you do not feel too bulky with them on. Never did I think I would lust after thermals, but here we are!!

I have merino wool ones from various hiking stores. I have them for skiing and riding the motorbike, super warm

I have around 6 of the marks thin thermal tops scoop neck tops, and three polo necks, I do have the thicker polo neck ones and the leggings, but is it just me, the thicker ones don't last as long, they bobble in the first year of wearing them.

Mountain warehouse does some nice merino ones with a comfortable wide waistband for not silly prices. I also have some lovely silk ones from Lands End

Have cashmire/cotton vests and long sleeve tops from Rouge Gorge, a French firm. They might post to UK.

Ohhh I have the shorts with the waist. I lust after leggings that have the waist like that but looks like their normal leggings just have a thin band.

These look lovely and not as dear as I'd have expected from silk. What is the waistband like on the leggings? Can't tell from the pics.

I love my silk thermals from Lands End last year. I do also have some lovely thermal vests from M&S (still good after 15 years!).

M and S also usually does a range of tricky fleecy or merino tights. I have some of both but I rarely wear the fleecy ones as they’re actually TOO warm, I think more for minus 10 sort of weather! I nearly fainted with the heat last time I wore them in normal UK winter

*thick fleecy. Not tricky
