Perfume samples box' ?

Nefbachmorf · 22/12/2020 15:13

I'm running out of my current rota of three perfumes. I don't like any of them enough to repurchase.
Birthday next month and DH asked if I want perfume. I do, but need to test a few soon to decide on one that's full bottle worthy. I tried to test some in a recent, rare due to Covid visit to JL but found the experience frustrating because the testers were not easily available.

Does such a thing as a sample box exist? Or a way to try several samples by ordering online? (Preferably not Ebay).

Jo malone do a 4 sample set and you can add a gift card ...its £15 plus whatever value you want on top. Not sure what the fragrances are though. I bought one for a friend.

Perfume Society - I’ve had three of these and they’ve all been great - notes, paper strips, interesting samples, really nicely packaged, around 15-25£ I think. Heaps of choice. Sadly all the ones I end up liking end up being the £180 a bottle ones though and I’m never going to get a big bottle of them!

On hold at the moment but feel unique do a sample service for a few pounds (5 or 6 samples I can’t recall) that normally has perfume samples to choose from. They have had floral street, Keiran NY, Tom Ford, Miller Harris, Guerlain, Marc Jacobs etc off the top of my head.

Nadine Baggott did a video on Insta of exactly this last week.
Atelier Cologne's is very good value if colognes are your thing. (Think Jo Malone but loads cheaper)
I picked up a Monotheme one on eBay for a fiver (the range is stocked in M&S, lots of citrussy stuff similar to Tom Ford etc)
4160 Tuesdays do samples if you like really really sweet stuff.

I love the Perfume Society boxes, you get a good range around a theme. I had the unisex one recently and there was one I hated, several I liked, and a couple I loved...

Shay & Blue do a Discovery set too, every so often, which is good.

I saw online that you can get a monthly subscription at the fragrance shop , where you can choose a perfume to get a sample of every month . Costs £12 a month.

I was given a perfume society box: most of the really good brands mentioned on this thread were included:

Juliette has a Gun
Eccentric Molecules
Floral Street

I picked three new scents that I really love from the collection.

The Fragrance shop do scent addict where you are sent 8ml (about a months supply) of a different perfume every month. You choose which one and you can swap and change or keep the same one every month. It costs £12pm

As well as the above that PP mentioned, at Xmad there are also the minis sets in places like Boots, eg 3 or 4 minis - so 7ml or 10ml, that kind of size. So 4x Giorgio Armani fragrances, Mk, Ghost, Ariana Grande... they are the first brands that show on the perfume gift sets page.

Noseparis.com is amazing. Asks you for perfumes you like and sends 5 samples. Then asks to rate the samples and offers new ones based on your preference. They recommended me one that I absolutely love and wear every day, even if just sitting home in my sweatpants.

I found one of my all time favourites on Nose- but, that said, they are naughty and just send you what they're promoting that particular week/month.
I did it twice, and put exactly the same perfumes in each time and got completely different recommendations.
They're good for a cheap set of samples though.

Another vote for Perfume Society discovery boxes- they’re great and it means you get a few different brands rather than just one

Another vote for The Perfume Society. They have brilliant boxes of their own but the site also sells discovery sets from other brands too. I also recommend Gallivant, 4160 Tuesdays, Atelier Cologne, Zara Emotions (if you can still get the discovery set) and many more. This year, brands have really been bringing out the sample sets since people can't try in the shops.
