Waterproof skinny walking trousers?

MustardMitt · 25/10/2020 00:55

Someone posted a link to a site which had fashionable style skinny walking trousers, I think they might have also been fleece lined. This was ages ago, I can’t remember the name and I’m not coming up with anything when I google.

Does anyone remember? They were quite pricey as I remember, but they looked good!

I love the Acai for walking the dog. We tend to do our own trails so typically get wet and muddy. Also wear them for agility in a soggy field. They’re really easy to move in, stretchy but don’t go saggy after a few wears. Wash really well. I didn’t find them overly hot in summer but I’ve also stayed warm enough during the recent temperature dip too. The regular skinny are true to size but definitely size down if you go for the biker size as they run big. I have a navy pair and the grey bikers. They look good enough to go out in generally without looking like you’re off hiking. I’m hoping for the red bikers for Christmas! I also have referral codes if anyone wants one Halloween Smile

I think you can use mine from further up the thread if you want, if nobody else posts theirs.

I’m trying to decide between the leggings and the skinnies.

I’ve been looking at these as their ads pop up constantly on my Facebook. Are they suitable for people with short legs? They look pretty long on the models which is a worry!

RLABC · 26/10/2020 19:56

Cydonia they have different lengths.

Thirty years ago when I was doing longdistance and hill walking I met a rep. for Rohan clothing in a remote Scottish youth hostel. He gave an impromptu sales pitch to my female friend and myself with examples. I was thrilled with the clothing then and bought both winter and summer outfits, despite the prices being highish. But I was working then and the clothes are still in my wardrobe because I can't bear to part with them. I think they will never wear out. I have just looked up ROHAN and it's still going strong. However, I was told that the designer refused to sell women's pieces above size sixteen as he did not want large people showing off his clothes

@RLABC thankyou but sadly ship worldwide is no good to me, i'm in a developing country and the postal system is abysmal so unless they where to send them via a courier they'd never reach me. Even then its likely the customs officer would see a western name and i'd be in for weeks of arguing over the tax/bribe required to collect them.
Definitely on my list for next time i'm home or next time we bring in a mass shipment through a clearance company

Forresttheout that sounds very much like where I live! We daren't order anything from abroad because, like you, we'd never receive it or have to pay a fortune in Import Duty even though it's supposed to be set at 18% (theiving bastards! Angry).

They look great but don't really last. I have a pair of the non fleece lined acai trousers and the stitching is coming loose all over. I've had to restitch the pockets, knees and the hem.

@DougalandFlorence I've bought a pair of leggings using your code - thank you! Do you need anything from me to verify it?

I was going to order the Acai ones to try, but they are sold out in most of the bigger sizes in black at the moment, so it'll have to wait a bit.

But I don't know what size to order! I'm usually a 16-18 in trousers. I don't want them really skinny, so I was going to size up a bit anyway. But looking at the size guide, I'm all over the place, with hip measurement on the border of M/L, and waist measurement seemingly off the scale beyond XXL. I didn't think I was particularly oddly proportioned, but I must be.

Did you just buy your normal UK trousers size, and did they fit OK?

How tight are they on the legs? I wanted something a bit nicer than the usual walking trousers, but I don't wear super skinny anything, because I'm not super-skinny, and my calves in particular are huge. So these might be too leggings-like for me. Slim fit is good, but not spray-paint tight, especially as I want them for cycling. I thought the stretch sounded good for that, and the fleece and water-resistance to keep me a bit warmer in winter so that I'd go out exercising more often (so that I will be skinnier one day!)

Thimbleberries

Im the same as you.. the sizing of S M L just makes me change site as I simply do not trust these sizes.. so Im following you post for info 🌺

The odd thing is that they line the S/M/L etc up with UK sizes, but the actual measurements in centimetres don't seem to be close to me at all for any one size!

I guess I'll wait til they come back in stock, and they perhaps try an 18 or something and see if it's madly tight on the waist or something. And I can always exchange I guess. I have some stretchy jeggings from Fat Face right now, and they're a 16, so I didn't expect to be so off the scale with these.

I agree... they are beautifully looking trousers .. hopefully one of the ladies on here will pop back and advise 🌺

I have two pairs of Acai trousers - the thermal weight ones and the lighter summer weight ones. For some reason the thermal ones came up bigger than the light weight ones so I had to size down in those. They are really nicely cut though, about the only trousers I’ve ever had that don’t need a belt as they properly fit. They are relatively stretchy, I even ride my horse in them if it’s cold & raining as they’re warmer than my riding leggings. Well worth the money.
