I just want to give myself a bit of colour but don't want the mess and the smell. I hate going to bed feeling yucky and sticky with fake tan in so it there anything that is lighter?

Clarins drops, don't smell at all

They absolutely all smell and they just get worse with the gradual ones. That’s fine if you don’t mind it, I can’t stand it so I use Body Shop honey bronze which is more of a make up/stain. Upside is - no smell, better colour, no odd wearing issues!

Another vote for Dove gradual tanning moisturiser. I am quite pale and I use the medium/dark. Sainsbury's had it for half price last weekend, £3.50.

Garnier Summer Body (dark)is fine for the price. I have milk-bottle white legs and the fair colour did nothing for me, so definitely go dark. It smells of apricot when you apply but the fake tan smell does waft through several hours later. I apply it every other day. If you shower in the morning, you could apply it at night so you won't notice the... ahem...fragrance, then wash off in the morning. It's so cheap compared to other brands if all you want is to look sun kissed.

Ok, they all smell

But it looks great

I used to do it a lot, Lancôme flash bronzer on arms and legs was amazing, a real golden tan

Wonder if it still exists. Never went streaky either

Mdh well no but I feeling pretty shit and trying to make effort with appearance. I never normally have the time for fake tan now I do. Plus when we do emerge from this I will probably be grey and fat but tanned 😬😂

They all smell once they develop

That wet biscuit smell is your own skin cells reacting to the chemicals

@mdh2020 so you're suggesting we utilise this global pandemic by getting skin cancer? Good thinking batman.

Isle of Paradise drops for me too. I’ve been using for a year or so and have brand loyalty for the first ever time!

I use Dove - it's definitely not sticky, although there is a slight cocoa butter smell (which I can smell but no one else seems to be able to smell) but I don't mind that and it vanishes with a bit of perfume.

Unless you live in a flat there or in the North there is no need for fake tan at the moment surely?

First ridiculous comment of the day and it's not even 8.30am 😂😂

The cocoa butter moisturiser has a gradual tanning one. Smells exactly like the moisturiser & gives a nice natural glow

Another vote for Dove, I'm going to stick to that from now on rather than St Tropez etc.

Another vote for Garnier - the lighter one - gives a natural colour & smells nice too

I've never found one that doesn't have the fake tan smell. Even the ones that say they don't..

Tan luxe
Or garnier or dove although I find you can’t smell them initially but you can later especially if the bottle isn’t new

I love the skinny tan one called body glow, it’s a really natural colour after one application, I’m about three days in and I look like I’ve been away. Doesn’t smell offensive when you apply and I don’t feel the need to shower it straight off in the morning, my son said I smelt like marshmallows the other day after I’d applied it! I don’t use it on my face as I break out if I put anything on my face but it dries really quickly on my body, I just apply it like I was applying a normal body moisturiser.

I get it from Superdrug and it’s normally buy one get one half price so its about £12 for two. It’s normally with the body moisturisers though rather than the false tans, in a white pump action bottle.

I have zero brand loyalty so depending on special offers Garner Summer Body (light), St Tropez in shower (dark my brilliant white legs resisted the light). I wouldn't use either on my face though - my skin is too sensitive their. Have the Isles if Paradise drops too and like them as I can use on my face but they have shot up in price. For face only Boots No 7 do a facial gradual tanner .

Dove gradual tan. Garnish smells on me.

Have you ever tried Dove summer glow? It’s a body moisturiser with tan in it. It smells nice and just gives you a nice, gradual light tan. I’ve used it for years and dd, after using st tropez for ages, used my dove and proclaimed it much better! It’s also only about £4.
