How to look Expensive in a Pandemic

Trying desperately to distract/cheer myself up here..!

I started a "expensive" thread back in the day that ended up going for weeks, it was great ( Expensive in the summer IIRC)

Looks like we might be stuck home for a while then doesn't it?
To try and brighten the mood what about a lighthearted thread about how we plan to self isolate in a glamorous fashion?!
Maybe bit of princessing thrown in there..emerge beautified after the chaos subsides? Using up our beauty hoard? If we don't use stuff up now we never will!

Face oils / creams/ eye cream
Foot / hand cream
Nail file

Anything I've missed?

Cashmere jumper and socks on today

The socks keep you so warm , I usually get into trouble for using the fan heater as a boost in our open plan kitchen area but not needed it!

Going to do gel nails in front of the TV tonight
And plan to make up a "tv bag" from one of my 500 billion unused makeup/toiletries bags , will put various potions in , and apply whilst watching mindless drivel

Agree about perfume. My nails are utterly wrecked from hand washing and cleaning. I’m going to keep them very short and oil them at bedtime and hope for the best.

thedogsmother me too apart from Botox. But I have monthly facials. I should have had hair appointment tomorrow..obviously cancelled. So 5 weeks into roots. I may cover all mirrors.

Perfume is a good shout! I’ll start doing that again.

2nd run of couch to 5k today. If I came out the other side of this as a runner I’d be super pleased.

Not wearing makeup as it’s quite expensive & I’m running low anyway.

I have short hair which is cut and coloured due to greys every five weeks. I have an appointment booked next week but obviously won't be going so will be looking like shit very soon. I have never done my own roots so not really sure where to start. Also gel nails and Botox so it's not going to be pretty 😫.

I am doing 5 - 6 Jillian Michaels DVDs a week plus walking, gardening and spring cleaning the house. I must improve the water intake and will be using up my product stash. Healthy eating is holding up so far.

I was thinking today "Thank goodness you battled through the shit stage of growing out your Pixie Cut 70 , no 5 week trims to stress about"

My hair is one length, shoulder skimming . I only need to wash it every 3 days or so.
So next week (I'm on booked leave) I can dye it then leave it 48 hours (it helps to keep the colour) before washing again.

I have some 3 Day Dye so I can plaster that on my brows and saunter about caring not a jot .

And maybe some fake tan..............

My hands will get cream , I can use some nail products ( not able to at work) and paint my toenails.

I aim to have a couple of walks a day and get to 12k steps so just over 8km if not more. I’m not planning on wearing makeup much but will be using all my moisturisers and masks plus hair treatments and less heat styling. I need to buy a couple of root cover up dyes in case I need them (I will!). Ive been cooking healthy food and hopefully soon I’ll feel like healthy eating but right now the whole thing is stressing me out too much!

I’m going to do a half hour walk/run first thing every morning, followed by an Adriene yoga. Then shower and put proper clothes and makeup on. I like the idea of getting more dressed up on Friday evenings as well, although I’m not sure how it works alongside cooking.

It’s the smallest and most stupid thing to be sad about, but I’ve got some lovely spring/summer evening outfits I’ve been looking forward to getting out for months, and I’m really disappointed that I might not get the chance now.

Lots of lovely sleep is on my list. My hair needed a cut but too late now.
I know there’s no chance of me doing yoga or exercise but I will have to have a daily walk for fresh air and a good dance everyday, it’s amazing how a good boogie lifts my mood.

I might see if I can order more loungewear

Being slim is normally one of the key commandments on look expensive threads and I'm losing weight marvelously due to empty shelves at supermarkets. A clean bum is also a must.

Feral lower half Grin

Ok here's my goals

Hourly walk daily to tone legs
Jillian Michaels DVDs
Do weights ( anyone got good ideas for household stuff to use I.e what is 2kg etc?)
Water water water
Keep the treats for the kids , try and not idly snack
Use up beauty hoard , do pamper sessions
Plan summer wardrobe - expensive looking items only of course
Clear out existing clothes/makeup/shoes - anything not up to scratch

Well as it happens I started trying out both revitalash and revitabrow 10 days ago. Hoping that I will emerge with luscious lashes and full brows...

Making an effort is important at the moment and lm going to try to do more than the bare minimum for working from home. Not just do the newsreader approach I.e. dressed upper half and feral lower half
Try to improve my pedicure game
Drink lots of water
Sort through my clothes for a move (that may not actually happen)

Great thread.

  1. I’m going to grow my hair (it will take a long time as it’s crap) as I want to try a blunt cut bob to see if it will make my very thin, fine hair look any better.

  1. Eat healthily. Already made a start on this as can’t go out to replenish chocolate and other junk.

  1. Go for a daily walk. Last time I seriously went on a mission to walk a hour a day I firmed up, lost weight and looked in the best shape since pre DC - over 30 years ago.

  1. Wearing no make up. I’m dependent on it and have worn it since I was 14. I want to let my skin breathe and try wean myself off it and when I do wear it, wear less.

  1. Look after my nails, hands, feet. I’m too shaky to attempt nail colour but will moisturise more.

  1. Send off for some skin and hair masks.

I don't think I'd fit into the skirt of my wedding dress after 3 kids Hmm definitely time to get fit.
I to expected my apocalypse outfit to be a bit different but I was thinking of channeling walking dead so this.

I’m giving this a go... for some reason my hair has been really dull and broken loads recently so I’ve bought loads of hair treatments and masks to use, and I’ve been giving my skin a rest from makeup. Fiancé can’t seem to tell whether I’m wearing foundation or not anyway Hmm Grin

I’ve painted my nails today and although I’m slipping into trackies more, I’m hoping to keep in comfy but daytime clothes... I work from home all the time, so I have no excuse really!
