where all the brow hair are made to kind of go in one upwards uniform direction

I can't work out whether I like it or whether it looks weird? what do others think of this?

Personally I don't like it, but I don't like thick eyebrows at all. I get mine waxed once a fortnight, mine are naturally fairly straight but the amazing lady who does them shapes them so they look like I have a bit of an arch, she does them perfect, just the way I like - not too thick closest to the nose and thin closest to the ears (sorry that's the best way I could think to describe it).

But it's not for anyone else to say whats good or bad as everyone likes different things, and I say each to their own. (Most people, especially on here, would hate my nails as they would think they are way too long and therefore awful, and often wonder how I do anything with nails that extend nearly an inch from the free edge. But I love them and that's all that matters to me. I don't care what others think).

Why not save money and glue a couple of these to your forehead instead? Same look, but free.

Again I posted the photo as an example of laminated brows - not because I like her makeup nor because I want to look like her.

Do young women really want to look like that photo?

@mnthrowaway202020 Hmm I don't know, DSD is 22 and said she looks fake and not a look she would like to emulate.

the eyebrows are a bit furry in the 2nd pic tbf.

i might try the soap thing though

@bizzybuzzy yes the highlighter could certainly be toned down, I don’t like the blatantly overdrawn lips either, especially as her lips are already full. I just don’t think she looks as horrendous as some posters are making out - I’ve seen worse! Maybe I just chose bad photos as I was only focused on the eyebrows!

Nope, just horrible.

One of my young colleagues gets this done to her eyebrows. It looks like me aged about 8 when I used to wash my face with soap and a flannel, but never bothered to rinse properly so the soap would set my eyebrows Grin

It's so expensive being young and self-conscious these days, and most of this stuff is totally unnecessary and doesn't enhance natural beauty at all. It's almost like putting on a disguise.

@mnthrowaway202020 do you not think the lips look ridiculous? I don't mind the brows, much better than the sharpie ones but I hate the trend for plastic looking skin with the white sparkling bits on the nose tip or cheekbone. I don't understand why everyone on insta looks the same & are so shiny.

DD is 19 and hates the fake look demonstrated on here.

Yes, perhaps it’s a generational thing. I’m in my early 20s and don’t think laminated eyebrows nor the influencer I posted look as terrible as some of you are describing

I had mine laminated, just for the fun of it. And I agree at first it looks awful because they are being permed upwards and you can't get them wet for the first 24 hours.
However after they've calmed down a bit they are so lovely! And you don't have to have them brushed up all the time if you don't want

I think you could achieve a similar look from soap brows. Search angiedib on Instagram. She is an MUA who uses soap brows on clients.

Bahhaahaa hahaha What happens when you have too much money and time on your hands and no taste.

I agree with Vetenari and Wereallsquare the increasing fashion for women to look like drag acts is just ridiculous

I asked about this at my usual beauty salon the last time I had my lashes done and they said that while they do offer it, only one of their beauticuans does it because after two or three werks, youre left with the straight eyebrows AND normal eyebrow hair regrowth and it just looks messy.

You can get it done again but have to wait 8 weeks between treatments or it can damage the brow hair.

She said they look OK on younger women who’re going for a fashion look (as illustrated above in those ridiculous pictures) but on anyone over 30, they just look like werewolf brows.

I truly, truly hate them. They look daft as lights.

I just tried it with my toothbrush. One eye brow looks great, the other goes really wonky. I'm older agnes the eye brow hairs have become wayward.

They look really stupid.

Floraflower3 · 14/03/2020 10:18

I like them. Maybe because I'm younger I don't know. We've moved away from the thin, overplucked eyebrow look to a thicker, fluffier look. I used to over pluck mine but mow i hardly touch them, it's nice to embrace big brows now 😂I wonder what the next trend will be.

My SIL is a beautician and OMG me and DH are regularly shocked and amused by the horrifically over the top, super heavy, ‘Instagram worthy’ pictures she posts, including the brow lamination.
Quite vile and I know no one in real life who would pay to have something so ugly!

Report
dudsville · 14/03/2020 09:07

I used to do this in the 80's with hair gel and a cleaned mascara wand.
