Can Winters wear orange, and if not what is persimmon?

Just as the title says really.

In the charts I've seen online one of deep winters' best colours is persimmon but I can't make out what colour it actually is.

Is it orange or orangey red or brownish orange?

TIA Smile

I’m a deep winter and can wear orange, as others have said; it needs to be bright and if too yellow then add in other deep winter neutrals like navy or black. Deep winter has autumn as a secondary colour so can carry off some of the autumn colours but bright and pure is key. Rock that sweater I say!

Well, it has arrived and I like it. After extensive internet research (googling instead of housework) it's like how I imagined persimmon to be.

For anyone considering it, the jumper is a neat enough wide necked crew.

I am going to break out of my usual mould and hang on to it. I think Mac Lady Danger would be pushing it though Grin

I like this palette of burnt oranges though.

I look better with blue-based than yellow-based colours, and would be a Winter using that terminology.

I figure that I would probably be ok with a dark orange with some blue/ purplish undertones going on.

However, if you add enough blue, the colour stops being recognisable as orange.

I might opt for vermilion here - but I would probably not see it as orange.

I don't have any orange, yellow or brown clothes.

Martin - that will look horrible on me. I'm a Winter.

mirpuppet the jumper is from Mint Velvet.

Thank you for taking the time to google that Runningpear. I've attached an image of both lipsticks to see what any other Winters think.

I've googled that colour and it looks far too orange-y for me, sorry.
I tend to stick to plum / blue toned reds.

I love the orange star jumper (I'm an autumn). Where did you order it from?

I've been checking out what are termed 'persimmon lipsticks' online. Do any of the Winters reading wear Mac Lady Danger or Rimmel In Love with Ginger?

Nope. I'm a true Winter and I can't wear orange.

No sign of the orange star jumper yet. I have my red lipstick at the ready, coloured my hair at the weekend so no greys to drag my pallor down. Will report back when it arrives during the week!

A friend and I would like to have our colours done. Can anyone recommend a stylist near Richmond or Kingston?

Thanks for this thread! I'm. A winter but lately I keep thinking about a dark orange shirt I used to love when I was younger...

Green I quite like because it goes well with red hair. It was more the shades of blue that I was drawn to were labelled as spring/summer. I guess it wouldn't hurt to wear a couple of those colours sometimes, just that autumn colours would look best.

I have always thought I was a winter but I look best in mustard, forest green and bright red, general 'jewel' tones.... maybe I've been wrong all this time.

Toffee try some autumn greens and beiges near you face first and see how you look and feel. I had colour analysis with a friend who was autumn and she was gutted, thought dull! But she looks fabulous and elegant!

I did a quick online thing with Kettlewell colours and I'm a warm autumn (red hair, hazel eyes, pale skin with probably warm-ish undertones). They sent a catalogue/booklet through the door recently and it was a bit disappointing. There wasn't much available for Autumn, and what there was I did not like much. Some things I was drawn to were supposedly for Springs/Summers (mainly lighter blues than just navy/kingfisher). I don't like khaki or brown which unfortunately seem to be Autumn colours, they just look so drab and boring!!

I could also do a deep chocolate brown when I was younger and a clear winter. I hated plum and navy back then as they were ageing on me. Love them now. I live in blue with occasional forays into burgundy/plum and stronger shades of teal. I get frustrated when shops are full of that more bricky deep red because that looks dreadful on me.

i'm nodding as I listen to this and this woman says that white adds ten years to an autumn. That's it then, I'm definitely an autumn and I discovered recently that rust peps me up so that's it I guess.

White is my Black!

I've tried to wear orange, but apart from when I was a teen and had died my hair almost black, it never really worked. I'm salt and pepper now and I can wear a soft but not too pale coral in the summer when I have a few light freckles on my cheeks, but it looks completely wrong in winter when my skin is paler and pinker.

I've never worn brown or yellow in my life. I wonder if they are just not my colours.

There's bound to be a few shades you like! I'd like to get it done, with a friend to make it fun.

I haven't had mine done but i want to get it done. Every time I do an on line quiz I get a different answer. I have mid brown blah hair, green eyes and pale skin. So it's hard to tell what i am. But Rust and olive green suit me. I think that means I'm autumn. Not certain though. White looks terrible on me, or, I look terrible in white. TERRIBLE. Is that a clue?

So I want my colours done, but I'm afraid . I loathe brown, beige, burgundy and orange, and what if they tell me to wear them? I know I don't actually have to, but then there's no point.

I had my colours done years ago, with my mum and my sister, and I remember my sister saying exactly the same thing. I think that's the point - as Dustbunny says you gravitate towards the colours that really suit you, and by the same token you dislike the ones that don't. My sister is indeed a summer so would never wear beige, burgundy or orange (there might be a particular shade of brown summers can wear, not sure about that!)

I am a winter and when I wear this full on orange number I get lots of compliments :)
