Must not feel siliconey, don't like things like Protect and Perfect AT ALL.

Must do for both day and night.

Must plump my crepey dehydrated chops.

Any other bonuses like fading of age spots/erasing of wrinkles/tightening of pelvic floor gratefully received.

I'd be interested to try the new Clinique one but I do like Moisture surge anyway.

Have been using up an Elemis toner as well, but will try the Kiehl's Essence after that.

I have:

The cheapo Superdrug one- am on my 4th bottle and always repurchase.

Boots Lift and Luminate (am 51) Now- this is GOOD. Seriously good. BUT whilst it smooths, it also somehow dries my skin out...so I don't use this all the time...every few weeks I have a few days at it. Very silicony. If I use this I can only slop Astral on top as anything else pills.

Nip and Fab Dragon's Blood. S'OK. Smells like paintstripper mind.

The Ordinary- Buffet- and Hyaluronic and Vit C (3 different ones) The Vit C is like rubbing sun lotion when the sand has got into it on your face and it might well leave me looking 23 again in a month's time but it's so foul to use I'm never going to get to that point) Buffet and Hyaluronic are nice enough. Not sure they're the lifechangers that The Ordinary are so keen to tell us all they are...

Those are the ones I have currently in the cupboard and use...the above order is probably in order of preference.

I've just finished the blue Clarins one that you have to shake, and the pump is a bit of a nightmare, plus I found that you need a lot. Unless I have a very big face.

Aqualia is horribly sillicone-y, I see it's been recommended but OP says she doesn't like the feel of silicones. and who can blame her?

Clinique have a new one in the Moisture Surge line.

Clarins Anti soil serum, the one you shake to combine is much better.

You can also try and use the Biore essence in the 7 skin method, and you might not need an extra serum at all.

Neal's Yard Rose Elixir.

I was given it as a Christmas gift and wasn't sure if I should try it as new stuff sometimes makes me itch. I hate the name (what is it for??) and the instructions are very vague but once I read up on it I decided to give it a go and it is my new favourite thing. I use the balm (which was also in the gift set) for cleansing and half a pump of 'elixir' (serum) and it has helped my flaky/oily face issues a lot. Leaves my face glowy but not shiny/greasy.

For years I did oil cleansing and NY frankincense cream, but this is much better.

Thanks. I don't get spots normally so will look at the peptide. I wonder whether the snail mucus stuff is something we'll all look back on like this Shock in a few years, like fish pedicures. Grin

My routine is this:
cleanse with a balm cleanser (currently Farmacy)
Clinique green exfoliator
Serum
Murad something or other moisturiser
Biore watery essence on sunny days

Sometimes that AHA gold stuff at night.

I'm a skincare fan. Grin

Can't believe I've never tried this Superdrug miracle!

CK for general anti ageing I'd go with the peptide. For acne prone skin a lot of people prefer the snail mucin. I don't get many spots, so I stick to the peptide one.

If you want to really make a difference, my first port of call would be to look at your cleansing routine & some sort of chemical exfoliator.

I double-cleanse with oil cleanser first (I use the simple one) and then a cream cleanser (currently Eucerin). Both removed with a flannel & warm water. No wipes, no foam!!

The Ordinary has a few chemical exfoliants, I'd have a peek there to start.

And of course sunscreen!

I love the 2.99 superdrug serum,I must be on at least my 5th bottle now! Never repurchased a skin care product so much.

I use the Superdrug serum mentioned above at night, and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair in the mornings. My makeup doesn't sit as well over the Superdrug, for some reason.

Caudalie glow activating serum is amazing. I started using it about 3 weeks ago and my skin looks loads 'glowier'. It depends a bit on your age as well though, I think it is aimed at skin in the 25-35ish group, if your skin is older or younger it may not be as effective.

Snoxin by Indeed Labs. You can get it from Boots.

Ooh, I used a Hada Labo product and it gave me spots too, and I'm thinking now how similar it was to that Loreal product I mentioned up there ^. There's obviously something in those type of products that doesn't agree with me.

Yes, MyNewHobby, I want something life changing. Smile

My two favourites Smile

Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion, and Cosrx ADVANCED SNAIL 96 MUCIN essence.
I get both from Amazon, I believe the cosrx is from Korea, and the Hada labo from Japan (I am quite possibly wrong though).

Both leave my dehydrated skin beautifully plump and smooth. They soothe any rosacea or sun sore skin, and don't cause break outs.
I even layer them under my primer instead of a moisturiser on a hot day, so that I'm not an oily mess. Make up goes on wonderfully on top.
I love them so much.

I'm looking for something similar. I'm using Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching serum at the moment but fancy a change. I find the dehydration frustration as I drink so much water daily....

I'm going to check out Mizon, NIOD and Dr Dennis Gross. I've got some other The Ordinary products and don't find them life changing tbh.

£2.99!!!! Amazing. Will give it a go for that price, although I bought Loreal Hydra Genius or something recently, thinking I'd snaffle a bargain, and spots galore.

You need Superdrug Simply Pure Hydrating Serum. It's light but leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and is £2.99 - currently with a buy one get second half price offer. I've used more expensive serums ( and I love The Ordinary for tackling specific issues) but this is the best all rounder by a mile.

Lancôme genefique is amazing! Wasn't a serum user at all before this, now I couldn't do without it, amazed at the difference it's made to my skin.

Lauder advanced night repair does all that. I wear it day and night and look more haggard when I stop, which is unfortunate as it's expensive.

Nabootique · 20/06/2017 14:12

In that case, agree that the Ordinary Buffet could be a good one, and is so cheap! I am oily/combination and dehydrated and really like the NIOD MMHC and the Dr. Dennis Gross Hydration Booster as well. The latter is a lot more expensive but has a lot of additional beneficial ingredients. Hylamide is another option, which has the addition of peptides, which are believed to help with ageing.

Vichy Aqualia is silicone heavy, and the Nip+Fab also has silicone, and denatured alcohol high up the ingredients list, which is not great if you suffer particularly from dehydration.

Ooh, which of the Mizon range might be right for me, do you think?
