The search for the holy grail! The perfect lipbalm!

Hello, I've been addicted to lipbalm since I was in primary school. So I am now a seasoned expert.

I have them all over the house, in every handbag, at work etc etc. But I usually have to have several cos none of them do everything!

Ideally, it would:

  1. Have SPF
  2. Be slightly tinted
  3. Not in a tin so it gets hot and melts
  4. Not in a stick so it gets hot and snaps
  5. Come with a mirror. In fact, it could come in a plastic tub with a mirror on the underside of the top, like Bobbi Brown lip & cheek tint.
  6. Actually be very moisturising and not irritating to lips (I recently read Blistex does more harm than good!)

Does anyone else feel my pain?!

Clarins lip comfort oil is great. I use the raspberry one but tint if any is very minimal.

I have definitely heard that Carmex is habit-forming.

Let's sue them!!

I to am an addict!
It has to be normal Carmex in a tube. I have loads dotted around the house, the Dc think it's funny to hide them from me!
I even wake up in the night and put it on, I need help!

There is no doubt in my mind that the absolute best lip balm ever is the one in the men's section at molten brown. £10 for a plastic squeezy tube and it lasts for ages. It is non scented (high on my check list) and non greasy. It also does not annoy my lips at all as most cheaper lip balms do. I think it's called vitamin lipsaver.

I know you said no sticks but this really is the best IMHO

Another one that loves Badger balm. I usually use the unscented one but they do lots of different 'flavours' and also a tinted range.

There are a few shops that sell Badger but most of the stuff is hard to get hold off in the UK..I've just had a delivery today and it has come from Austria...

If you're in France, Avibon from French pharmacies (not parapharmacies) is excellent.

Just did a search for Nuxe tinted balm and this came up www.cocooncenter.co.uk/bio-beaute-tinted-repairing-lip-balm-15ml/14066.html?currency=GBP&gclid=CPvh4vDcyM8CFUI_Gwodk2AL1g says its Bio Beauty by Nuxe and the ingredients look pretty good. Two colours, peach and raspberry. Anyone tried these?

Bite Beauty lip mask is hands down the best tinted lip treatment I've ever had. It's in a metal tube and comes in clear, a gold peach colour or a red berry colour. But I've only ever seen it in Sephora so unless you're placing a decent sized order to make the postage worth while then that's not much use. Wish they'd start selling Bite products here. They're all good.

Love Maybelline baby lips. The yellow tubed one is perfect as a base under lipstick and over the top of lipstick to freshen it up.

Otherwise lanisoh lanolin is the holy grail of lip balms but not what you're wanting.

This was so unhelpful sorry. Blush

Burt's Bees are the best tinted lip balms. Come in loads of different colours.

This is the only tinted one I've found, but I wonder if it would be as fab as the original one in the pot? €8.83 is doable if it lasts long and is gorgeous.

Nuxe do tinted versions of their Honey lip balm in small glass pots. Haven't seem them outside France. Not glossy.

This one is amazing, if it were tinted it would honestly be my holy grail. I must track this down!!

(Though agree on the EA 8 hr one, it was my previous fave)

I could have written this post myself! I love lip balms and I am too always looking for the perfect product. I have literally almost ran out of lip balm so was debating what to try next!
I use carmex but it's not perfect, just moisturises well. I think I might give lanolips a try!
I find the body shop ones are no good but smell lovely

I also have vast quantities of lip balms. I have Sjögren's syndrome and produce very little saliva, skin super dry and lip balms are essential.
At the moment I have whittled it down to Eve Lom (rare treat), La Roche-Posay cicaplast levres (online so usually bought at a discount), and a random one I bought from Space NK (as they were reduced and selling them for about £2 ) called Daily Lip Fix which is brilliant so I have bought loads in case they never have them again.

OP La Roche Posay and SpaceNk ones are tubes.

I was just going to recommend the Paw Paw one as well! It is sooo good. I found out about it in Mumsnet a while ago and use it all the time it even works really well under matte lipsticks.

Beware of eos. I absolutely loved mine-cute packaging, natural ingredients, lovely scent and flavour. After a few weeks my lips started to crack, peel and weep-I'd never experienced anything like it. Didn't make the connection with the lip balm at first but finally realised it was the eos doing it. After googling I've discovered lots of people have experienced the same problem.

The best IMO is By Terry's Baume de Rose.
