Flattering low-heeled ankle boots

I'm on a mission at the moment (which largely consists of buying then returning) to find some low-heeled flat ankle boots that don't give me short stumpy legs.

I've had before the Jigsaw Cara boots (www.jigsaw-online.com/product/cara-ankle-boot/J25124_BL010), but after various foot and ankle injuries, I can't really wear them any more. I love them as the "v" at the front and (obviously) the heel makes my legs look longer and slimmer.

I've looked everywhere for lower heeled equivalents, but can't find any. The latest to go back are some suede Boden ones, which looked promising online, but do nothing for me.

I'm a size 10, 5ft4 and don't have slim legs - my calves are fairly muscly (with a by of flab) and my ankles are relatively narrow. In the right shoes (heels!), I like my legs. Unfortunately, I can't wear those any more.

Does anyone have any recommendations for flat ankle boots that won't make my legs worse than they actually are?

There's a lot of biker style ones around, but I'd like something a bit more elegant to wear with skirts and dresses (and to a smartish office).

Thanks very much!

Blockier, not blocker. (And prefer the look of the slightly less blocky heel, but have stupid weak ankles.)

Hi there. Just coming back belatedly to say that I ordered the Ash Hurrican (www.ashfootwear.co.uk/womens-c1/ash-hurrican-boots-black-suede-p1768), they've arrived and I'm keeping them.

They're not perfect (would prefer a slightly blocker heel and a slightly less pointy toe), but they're pretty close. I also got them half price (which softens the blow!) and would consider getting them again in black leather or a different colour suede. (I won't though....)

They do have the "v", which after trying on many pairs of shoes, I've realised is the most important thing for me. Thanks for all your help and hope this is useful for others!

These are last years Clarks but found a couple of pairs left on Cloggs. The colour is more grey than mushroom but went with both trousers and skirts. The colour seemed to complement everything. I wore them to death and have actually this minute ordered another pair as I want a spanking new pair for work this winter! Sorry it's not got the V but I am five foot nothing with chunky calves and was very happy with how these looked. The black elastic seemed to break up the line ankle line

Oh and why my last years boots were suede but I used protector spray on them and they were fine Smile

Marking place as I need boots with a v too - last years were from Dune so will look there first I think. Hoping to go shopping next week - anyone know if the shops have their boots stock in yet? Last week there weren't many (and no v's!)

I love the Dallas Superdry but they only go up to size 7 and I need 7.5 or 8!

I would love something like that in leather as I worry suede would not do well in the wet.

Those Clarks ones are well comfy and quite flattering.

You can wear black ankle boots with black jeans, black leggings or black opaques and they won't make you look stumpy.
For blue jeans step away from ankle boots just don't do it unless you're Claudia Schiffer

Ive tried these and really like them as they are tight to my leg and so I feel they don't chop me off if wearing with leggings/jeggings

Confused - I cross posted with you!

I've actually just bought the last pair of (half price!) 39 Hurrican boots in black in their sale. They seem to be the same as jalouse but a bit lower (obviously I prefer the jalouse...). Very much hoping they are the ones - panic bought a bit as look like what I'm looking for, and last pair at half price!

I hope you find the ones in the colour you're after. They're lovely boots.

Inspired to start digging again, I remembered Ash (never had them but have seen them about). These look like they could be right www.ashfootwear.co.uk/womens-c1/ash-hurrican-boots-black-suede-p1768

A bit more than I intended to spend so would have to wait a month or so, but if they are right and they last, I'd think about it.

Are Ash boots meant to be good for walking in (will they last!)?

Thanks again

Thank you all! I've seen (and liked) the air and grace ones before (tempted by the super-comfy selling point - are they?!). Straight across at the ankle though.

The superdry ones are fab - very like the Jigsaw ones, but cheaper! The heel sadly is too high though. I miss heels.

The red or dead could well be worth a look though. I wanted somethin a bit less chunky for work, but they'd do for weekends.

For those who have the same stumpy leg issue, do you think it's better if you move away from black boots?

I clearly have a lot of places still too look, which is good to know!

they've got a wee heel but they're pretty comfy

Oh, I totally missed the fact that you wanted a flat boot, sorry. I have been so fixated on a comfortable mid heel ankle boot that I got over excited! Hope you find your perfect pair of boots too.

I have lived in the same pair of uggs for 3 autumn/winters now. I really wanted something a little more stylish, bit of a heel, with as much comfort. I have ordered and sent back 4 pairs of ankle boots these last couple of weeks Fili. These arrived today www.superdry.com/womens/boots/details/60969/dallas-ankle-boots-black
and I have only worn them indoors but considering I haven't worn any type of heel for a long time they seem so comfortable, flattering (they have that V that I was looking for too) I absolutely love them and promptly ordered them in taupe too. (Very reasonably priced I feel) I'm now considering the navy pair! Love them.
