Leather Jacket (another one). Does it suit me?

Thanks to the other thread I appear to have ordered a leather bike jacket from Jaegar. It is beautifully soft, smells divine and I love it.

However I am totally rubbish at clothes and have no idea if I look OK in it. totally swayed by the look, smell and bargain price. Does it make me look all shoulders? Like a box? Mutton? Have recently embraced the grey hair and feeling a little lost style-wise.

Please - blunt as you like - look OK? Look Crap? Always wanted one, but never owned one. I live in jeans, slouchy jumpers and Vans....

Your verdicts please of S&B gurus.

OK, just been for coffee at a friend's house. She is v stylish (in an understated way) and used to be a fashion model. I will point out she is my only friend with such a glamorous background - not normally hanging out in such fashion-aware circles.

Took still unworn, still labelled jacket with me to get her opnion. Think I still wasn't convinced.

She agreed with all of you - style/shape is great - BUT - it is too "matt". Too dull for my colouring. I need one with more sheen and/or a bit more silver on it. And she is right. She could see it in real life - and her eye instantly saw what I knew wasn't quite right. (So thank you C if you see this.)

So it is going back. A bit of a sob. But I think I knew something was off - and it would be the thing that would keep me putting it back on the hanger and not wearing it.

However I am now going to go on a hunt for one that is "me". The shape/style is right - just need a different finish.

Shows me to trust my instincts I suppose.

Flowers and thank you for all your lovely comments and help.

I saw it linked on the other thread too. Can I ask you how you found it size-wise?

It looks like it was designed with you in mind. Stunning. And another envious sigh at your lovely bedroom.

Like everyone else, I think it looks great.

But if you call yourself 'mutton' again I will have to have a word.

it's lovely, a real classic. I always worry about coloured leather jackets, it's really not decent. ;)

I love it and I also love your haircut. (It's the style I aspire to, but I can never cope with not having a fringe for long, it just goes in my eyes.)

The jacket looks great with what you're wearing there, but it would also look good with fitted dresses or pencil skirts (I know that wouldn't be your usual style but if you felt lie experimenting...) and with stripy tops.

I know what you mean about the smell - I smelt my favourite boots for days after I got them, they were so deliciously leathery.

Blush thank you for the comments about the room. Can I confess though - tis just because I am as clueless about interior design as fashion - so when we did the house up I couldn't face any more decisions on anything (we had done a whole house renovation). So our bedroom - white paint, white bedlinen, stripped floorboards. The rest of the room still needs work as there are the old spareroom curtains still being a stop-gap 2 years later

user I didn't fancy a coloured one. I have various coloured jackets already but did not have anything black in my wardrobe. I think the overall look would benefit from a zing of colour but can add that with accessories (MN scarf anyone?) Not sure I am keen on coloured leather jackets too - reminds me of the '80s first time round.....
