For a woman in her forties to wear original style kickers?
I have acquired a pair, love them but they feel a bit children's bbc presenter... I have attached a pic and considered changing the laces from red to navy...
If I were to were them then what with?
I enjoy wearing comfy but flattering clothes, quite casual slightly adolescent hippy/classic mix, lots of gap , Zara, charity and tkmax.
Jeans, little dresses, short skirts, mainly flats, dm loafers , converse and the occasional block heel Mary Janes or ankle boot.
Please advise, I'm a peri menopausal mid lifer, I don't want to make a hideous mistake.
Tia...

I love Vans. Perfect for my wide hooves.

If wear those with white skinnies and a dark top. Or just skinny jeans of some description and a plain top.

I'm not a fan of those kickers but I like the way you've styled them OP.

Love the next and matalan comment Grin
I live in black jeans or normal denim jeans with black tops. This is why I'm not sure what to wear with these shoes.

They will fit on extremely wide feet, my feet are really wide! They are £25 in Tk maxx at the moment.

Like the Kickers, if those Vans fitted my extremely wide feet, I'd wear them pretty constantly with skinny jeans (short of leg so roll ups rarely work) and a smocky style top od the Seasalt/Fatface ilk (also a 14-16)

Why wouldn't it be acceptable?

toast I'd wear those vans with anything, they're lush, I'd totally go plain and casual , not too much in the way of pastels or it could start to look a bit Next or Matalan (no offence Next or Matalan shoppers) you want to keep an urban thing with vans , let the flowers speak for themselves if that makes sense?

A woman in my office was wearing patent kickers today. She was 50ish and they looked great.

DPotter - so jealous!

HoggleHoggle - I am too large to wear white tops Blush well I'm a size 16 so I guess I could try some on and see.

Toast I like those! Personally I would wear with rolled jeans and a plain white top. Could look good with denim shorts too.

I've got bright red DMs - just saying .....

They look a lot better on, as the print isn't as bold once they are down on your feet. My descriptive skills are awful Grin

Hope you don't mind me posting this on your thread but wondering if you or anyone could suggest what to wear with these vans I got at the weekend. I've never ever had anything flowery but felt like I wanted something different!

Well I it my first chance to wear them today as it was rainy, not much inspiration as feeling poorly but am quite happy with how it turned out, no weird looks at school or at work and a compliment from a very chic friend Smile

Hey guys thanks so much for all your messages and ideas.
Original style knickers could be next, I'm already on big pants...
I've bought some navy laces to try , navy is my black, I rarely wear black as it doesn't agree with me, the same with silver but I like Toast's outfit idea, if I swap black for navy and silver for brass think low key is a pod way to go and during the summer might try with my usual cut offs or little dress.
Stinking cold at the mo but soon as it's organised I'll (try to) post some pics!
Exciting!
