perfect opaques

Where do people get these from? The ones that are properly black but not wooly or shiny looking. Do they have to be 100 denier?

I'm tempted by Wolford because I'm tall, pear shape and tights make me cross!

I have never found a pair to fit properly.

Do they do 100 denier nude/ tan ones. Even just thicker than 30 would be good.

Wolford!

I saw some navy 100 denier ones in M and S yesterday. And I'm another fan of their Velvet Touch ones.

Falke are good but I find, if I get the larger size I need round waist and hips, they're a bit baggy on my ankles and lower legs. But that's just my shape.

As for Wolfird, still a bit traumatised by the expensive 10 denier ones I splashed out on for my son's wedding having rolled down to my knees during the reception! (Luckily managed to get to loo and change them for a pair of trusty M and S Autograph ones I'd put in my tiny bag!).
I'm tall but not super tall and I'd have thought German women are often tall anyway.

So a bit unsure I want to shell out for their opaques ...

Thanks Hoolio I need them for tomorrow so M&S it is. I couldn't spend Falke prices, I just know I'd get them caught on something after an hour.

The M and S ones I buy are the autograph ones. They are fabulous. The velvet touch hold ups are also amazing

I think you might have been unlucky - I have washed and worn mine a million times. Holes after a couple of wears would be very annoying at that price!

Floisme · 10/10/2015 12:59

Mouthful are Falke normally hard wearing then? I was really pissed off when I found a hole after only a couple of wears. Was I unlucky?

Falke are great. Completely matte so no shiny legs!

Falke or wolford, I've got long legs though.

I really like Charnos opaques. They are matt, come in lots of different colours, and the 60 denier is a good solid colour. They are lovely and soft too! I buy them from House of Fraser, or various hosiery websites. I find they last so much longer than the tights I was buying from M&S (dread to think how much money I wasted on them!).

Can I butt in and ask those saying M&S, which ones do you recommend?

They have so many, all identical looking whilst in the packet. Often come back with some that are too shiny, too wooly etc.

It's the only place I can get to tomorrow that sells them. CakeWine

Oh yes, the Primark ones are also a sensible length.
Not too long for Nora batty ankles or too short for groin issues.

Wolford are wonderful and great for very long legs. Mine last years.

Three years ago I chucked the snakes' nest that was my tights drawer and bought a pair of either Wolford or Falke every month. Mine are the 100 denier ones and they are all good as new despite being worn and washed hundreds of times (I'm in Scotland so opaques can be all year round here). I bought online with discount codes from sites like Tights Please.

Thanks everyone - will try the primark ones first I think!

I agree - Primark 100 denier are the cheapest and also the best - don't fall down, good matt black and wash well without bobbles - perfect!

I've recently treated myself to a pair of Falke and Wolford to see what all the fuss is about. I got 60 denier in grey (which I prefer to black). Both are lovely and dense and not shiny (I hate that). However the Falke ones have already got a small hole in the heel after 2 or 3 wears. The Wolford still look like new but then so they should for the price.

So basically I don't know if it's worth paying more. Sorry I guess that's not very helpful is it? Grin

I need new entirely opaque tights but in navy. Can't seem to find any, anyone have any ideas? Got some new 100 denier black ones but there don't seen to be navy ones in the shops this season.

Pretty polly 200 denier fleece lined, or Falke 100 denier (I think. Whichever their thickest plain opaques are).

Primark all the way for me too

I wore 100 denier for the first time this autumn yesterday and noticed the difference compared to 60 denier. I'd say at least 80 denier is needed for a completely opaque look.

I love M&S, especially the "secret support" type because they stay up better than any others. TK Maxx often has brands like Wolford much cheaper than RRP.

Primark. 100denier
£2.50 a pair. They don't bobble, they're not too high waisted etc
I've got about 10 pairs
