Charlotte Tilbury total waste of money

Has anyone used the Charlotte Tilbury brand? I bought some blusher and mascara. After 3 months the blusher has cracked and crumbled to the point I can't use it and the mascara has become gloopy and lumps on my lashes.

It wasn't cheap and I contacted customer service to suggest that the blusher should last longer and they haven't even bothered to respond. Just thought I'd post to warn others before you make an expensive mistake buying from this brand.

Wow, I love her make up! CT lipsticks are the only lipsticks I have ever felt comfortable wearing all day - stoned rose and bitch perfect shades are the first to have ever suited my skin tone too. Dh bought me a two tone blusher for christmas which is great and I like feline flick too.

I did have my make up done at the counter there and walked around looking like a man in drag for the rest of the day though - I think that may not be one of their signature looks.

The Audrey eye pencils are a lovely shade but disintegrate on being sharpened. A brand new one was the size of the lid by the time I managed to get enough of the "lead" sufficiently exposed. Customer service was very good and they gave me two pencils to replace the damaged one. Both are on the go at the moment with one always living in the fridge in an attempt to keep the product firm enough to sharpen the pencil. Once these two have run their course I will look elsewhere for my eyeliner fix.

My husband announced that he'd walked through Harvey Nichols and had seen "that one from Dallas selling her own make up".

When quizzed, he said, "you know, the poisoned dwarf one".

Charlene Tilton. That's who he thought was behind the Charlotte Tilbury brand. He didn't see anything odd in it at all!

I went and got "tilbury-ed"

I got-

The magic cream-nice but not worth £70
The wonderglow primer-again nice wouldn't say amazing
The wonder glow mask- no great shakes
The magic foundation- absolutely love it will buy again
The Concealer- covers the bags but sits in my wrinkles
The bronzer and highlighter- it's quite nice never really used highlighter so nothing to compare bronzer is a good colour on me
The foundation brush- this was a good investment as I didn't have one

Since this thread started I bought her eyeshadow quad in Vintage Vamp and I love it. You get quite a bit of fall out, but that's not unusual in highly pigmented shadows IME.

I liked Chanel Les Beiges and will buy it when released.

Ok, off to Bobbi brown I go then, but I will pop in to check out her lipsticks!

I really liked her Magic Cream, which a beauty blogger friend sold to me for about £20 because her skin reacted to it after one use.

I don't £70 like it though.

I'm loathe to try any of the other products because they're so pricey and away from beauty blogs, real women reviews haven't been overly complimentary.

Same goes for Chanel Les Beiges foundation too.

I don't think CT is herself a good advert for her products, as a few of you have already said. because she looks a bit crap

Of course, you'll be hard pressed to find a negative review of CT products by the beauty bloggers who like a good shill.

Totally overhyped, disappointing brand with poor-quality products.

Can anyone point to a scientific study that verifies this mythical 3-6 month date on mascara? All I can find in one single study on out of date AND shared mascaras. Keep it out of sunlight, don't share and don't add water to it -- and it isn't going to be full of bacteria and no need to chuck it out. Perishable products are under strict restrictions - and there is none on makeup in either Europe or US

I've got one of the eyeshadow sets from CT (due to recommendation by Sali Hughes) and although I love the colours I'm really disappointed with the way a couple of the shades have 'sealed over'. Tried the trick with sellotape but didn't restore them. Have to over and over them with a firm brush to get any shadow. Has put me off anything else in the range as is so expensive.

I'm a blusher addict and the only one that ever cracked was a no-name one that I bought in my teens for pennies.

CT looks really scary, airbrushed to hell, so whatever her skin secrets are, I'm not particularly eager to know - she seems a bit heavy handed. I mean, she did this to Sali Hughes!

I got her new foundation and the mini miracle eye stick and I normally use BobbiBrown. Was so disappointed with the Charlotte Tilbury products the eye stick made my fine lines a hundred times worse ! The foundation is really heavy and I found the quality to be similar to the Revlon foundation. Bobbi Brown was much lighter and easier to apply .

I've been dithering over going to CT or Bobbi brown for a makeover so this is good to read! I Wish someone would do a comparison on the same face with concealer & foundation from different brands.

Btw, you can buy mini mascaras on eBay & I ususLly buy them rather than full size.

I have one of her mascaras (Full Fat Lashes) and think it's great. I've had it a while more than three months and it's still grand. We all know that they say, "Mascara is only good for three months", but when you're paying £20 or £30 you do think to yourself that you should be getting more out of it! I read a hack which said you should just buy the sample size mascaras because no-one normal actually gets their money's worth out of the full size ones. But we don't have a Sephora, dammit.

I also have the eyeshadow quad in Dolce Vita and I really like it. The lip liner is good as well. The idea of selling the 'looks' was pretty inspired, and they do little eye sets to flatter different eye colours and lipstick/liner pairs which are great gifts. And the service I got at the concession in the Selfridges in Birmingham was very good.

I have only three words to say about the sleeping in make-up: fuck that shit.

Blushers do not routinely crumble. They just don't! I have over twenty blushers, not one has cracked. I'm using Hourglass Ambient blush at the moment, it's lovely but I'm not sure it's worth the moula. I won't be trying CT, then, no matter how much Wayne Goss goes on about her.

'She's indeed a bit bonkers, I remember an interview where she said that she cleanses her face every evening before putting on fresh makeup to sleep in! Apparently her husband has never seen her without makeup'

I read this too and thought 'dear god, the poor woman needs help'. I am a huge make up fan and for me its a big part of self care and all that but if you can't go bare faced now and then in front of your own husband, well I find that more than a bit concerning. And she's addicted to high heels and wore 6 inch heels every day even when 9 months pregnant. Yikes.

I have asked a few times on here if her lipsticks are any good and haven't exactly been bowled over by the response - certainly no rave reviews.

It's true though - the fashionistas and beauty blogger brigade love her Confused

Her Light Wonder foundation is gorgeous stuff, really light and glowy. The powder is good too, has some weird kind of blurring effect.

Nabootique I'd forgotten all about Cheryl! Blast from the 1990s past. I googled her and this photo of her on her death bed came up.

She's my kinda gal, 'I'm very ill so just half a tonne of makeup and three cans of hairspray please'.
