I'm 36 on Monday.

I have lost my way a bit. DH calls my look 'bag lady chic'. Grin

Mid thirties here.
I am an ample bosomed, long bodied hour glass in a size 10.
I don't think I have a style. I always mix it up and sometimes I look fab and others a complete mess.
Yesterday I was in baggy orange suit trousers from H&M with a navy blue t shirt.
The day before I wore a 60s shift dress, big sunglasses and a raincoat. I was having an audrey hepburn day. Although H said I looked like a really bad spy. Hmm

I like etsy, ebay, H&M, Zara, whistles (secondhand on ebay), vintage shops and a bit of topshop.

I am aware of age dressing now. I used to.live in crop tops and now I'm too scared of looking mutton. I also get wary when 15 year old dsd raves about any of my new clothes and wants to borrow them

I'm 36. At work I wear a uniform so nice and easy. I have three children, two are under five so I don't get out in the evenings very often - probably have one or two nights out a month at a push. I miss buying clothes to wear out and feel a bit out if touch with that.
I'm nearly always wearing casual stuff - skinny or straight leg jeans/jeggings with either boots in winter or sandals or converse in summer. I wear vest tops with cardigans in the summer, am wearing harem pants and dresses at the moment too - a maxi dress and the Boden blackberry dress. I have a knit wear fetish in the winter.
I never wear skirts.
I shop mainly at H & M, Wallis, white stuff and individual boutiques. Boden for stripes!

Forgot:

Shorts for summer, usually, in breathable fabric

Outwear - H&M military green parks (Spring/Summer); denim jackets; UNIQLO UltraLigh Down vest; Esprit wool coat; BLK DNM leather jacket

Jeans - skinny, distressed skinny, boyfriend, distressed boyfriend, flares

Shirts - t-shirts for summer and turtleneck fleece Uniqlo Heat Tech for winter in plain black/white/grey; band shirts, statement shirts

Shoes - Dr Martens (I have a small collection), Converse, Nike trainers, sandals during summer

Accessories - none except for bags, I like crossbody and totes, a Herschel basic backpack, I normally go for non-expensive bags.

I think I must be the only person on here that has never bought anything from Zara, Cos, Uniqlo or Boden! I like the clothes in Zara but my boobs won't fit in them, I've never really looked at any of the others for clothes. Am I some sort of mn outcast? Blush

I'm 37, size 14ish and shortish - want to lose a little weight, and get back to my comfortable size 12.
In winter I tend to wear tweed skirt, wooly tights, suede boots and a relatively figure-hugging jumper. I have. Tweed skirt from Joules that comes just above the knee - it's ace!
For casual, leggings, and a denim or corduroy mini-skirt, same boots, same on top. Sometimes wear denim or tweed hot-pants over leggings, too.
For summer I like dresses - my favourite are Seasalt (when I can afford them), also like Boden, and some unbranded stuff I pick up at markets etc. Always ballet-pump style flats, in Summer.
Oh, and I also love Boden casual trousers - have these in numerous colours, as they seem to fit me so well. At my height and weight, if you find a trouser that suits, you go for it big time!

I'm 36'and Size 14, talking. I'm a little bit rock chick/boho...I mostly wear skinny jeans with blazers (think Kate Moss, not Kate Middleton), converse, ankle boots, and in winter dresses with tights and slouchy or biker boots.

I'm 36, size 8 - 10, flat-chested.

My current style role model is Capuchine Safyurtlu. Ditch the high heels, obv (if you're me, anyway), and switch for Stan Smiths or sandals.

About 20% of the time I (try to ) channel Kate Lanphear (aged 40) instead. Black ripped jeans etc.

Taking my lead from Capuchine, I look way more together since I ditched everything from my wardrobe that was not black, white, grey or denim. It's not boring at all (as I had feared) - I look really well put together in practically anything. She has also shown me not to fear the white jean!! Or t-shirts.

Chambray goes with everything, especially white or grey denim.

My Topshop leather biker jacket is a staple. I wear it constantly (cheaper and finer leather than the ubiquitous Whistles one).

I have 1 smart pique pin-dot Whistles suit that I wear as separates to dress things up.

Stan Smiths have been a great addition to my wardrobe. They're a huge blogger cliche, but they're also incredibly comfy and they don't seem to get dirty. I wear black Ash trainers in winter or black Ash biker boots. Or my beloved leopard ponyskin slippers.

Fave brands = Topshop (for jeans), Asos for t-shirts, but plan to stock up in JCrew in the US this summer, Whistles when I can afford it. Jack Wills for jeans and chambray shirts.

Looks like we all dress kinda similar then!

I wanted to know if my style was too old or too young. I'm usually in fit and flare dresses with tights and shoe boots, skinny jeans with top and jacket with flats. Occasionally for work I'm in trousers and a top.

Thanks for all the reponses!

I'm almost 36 . I work part time from home so my work/home wardrobe are mainly interchangable. Most days it's something like skinny/slim jeans, 7/8 length slim trousers with a top of some sort and fitted cardi/jumper. I have some fit and flare or pencil dresses, but they feel a bit more dressed up and I'm just getting my head around wearing them for every day. I have a couple of mini skirts, but I'm not sufficiently confident about my legs to wear them without opaques and it's finally got too warm for that malarky. Shoes are wedges, ballet flats and converse at the moment, boots (biker and knee high) in winter. I have specific work shoes though that aren't garden/playground compatible confirmed by leaving a heel shaped hole in the bouncy tarmac at the playground. Today I went straight from a client's office to the playground and I am wearing a floral fit and flare dress with black cardi and black wedge sandals. I don't think I look out of place in either location!

Finding tops is really hard. I am about a size 10, 5ft2 but I have a real jelly belly and ample norkage so although the current boxy/floaty style should cover all sins, they just swamp me. Most t-shirts that are more fitted are too thin to hide the lumps and bumps and shirts never button in the right place. Pepperberry isn't worth the money and even if it was, never seems to actually get the fit right.

...It's interesting (and don't shoot me down but...) the perception on this thread that 36 year olds who dress like 36 year olds round my way are dressed "young" is interesting. The almost apologising like the cool girls will tease on the mn playground.
Only on MN do 36 year olds all get advised to wear Boden, Cos, White Company etc. At my work and round the shops and coffee shops where I live that's more for women of 46+. Even if a plain sharp suit is needed at work it's jeans or (good quality) jersey or skater dresses with denim or leather jackets.

The only place I noticed it being very unlike that was a well off market town in the Wye Valley.

36 and currently on maternity.

Work - smart retro/vintage (eg dress and jacket or wide trousers, bow blouse and waistcoat) or fitted dresses with patterns and a jacket.

Home (so all the time) - flared or skinny jeans, band tshirts or slightly embellished rock chick tops, 70s vintage. Hand made kitsch pattern dresses with leggings. Nice shoes or Adidas she'll toes or Docs. Combination of vintage, etsy hand made, designer 2nd hand or outlet, high street.
Today I'm in a DKNY denim skirt, My Little Pony tshirt from the 80s and Palmeira (Menorcan leather shoes) black glitters.

Going out- retro glam/rock (as in glam + rock not Slade Grin ) eg Viv Westwood Anglo mania dress and bag, silver irregular choice shoes or else a good quality maxi with a statement necklace and vintage Gucci bag.

I've never dressed "normal" though so don't think I'm typical.

I'm nearly 36.

I wear skinny jeans with heels or flats, jersey tops, al-line skirts and wrap dresses.

It's not very exciting it's me and I'm happy with my look. I shop mainly in uniqlo and gap and shoes are from next. I dress to suit my shape and as I've become more fussy about what I want, it rules out many shops.

36 next birthday.

For work I wear a lot of dresses from places like Joy, Next and Oliver Bonas/Emily & Finn etc. Sometimes a black pencil skirt with a three-quarter sleeved jumper. Smart but not supersmart.

At the weekends it's a lot of shirts or more casual jumpers with either skinnies and Converse/sandals or a black mini skirt with tights and biker boots. When it finally gets hot enough for me to get my legs out then I do tend to wear a lot of my work dresses as without cardigans and tights they look more casual. Lots from H&M, Zara, Dotty P's, general high street stores recently.

I think I'm just on the cusp of dressing slightly too young for 'my age', but I don't look 35 yet

My biggest problem is I'm 5'1 and a size 8/10 but with a tummy that needs some serious support. Clothes from most of the shops mentioned already are far too long or just hang in an incredibly unflattering way. Ditto crop trousers and boyfriend jeans - I look awful in them. Hence a lot of Next, which I know is normally hated, but is one of the few places that do affordable workwear in petite.
