Are Cath Kidston Bags Naff Now?

I purchased my first today because I always liked most of them (esp oilcloth) but never got around to it.

Now they're everywhere but I still like them - are they too popular & recognisable now?

I got an oil cloth bag from a wee welsh company called Eleanor's Attic. It is cross body too, which is v handy with two small DC to manage! I have only seen one other bag by the same designer, on a woman in a service station in Scotland last week, of all places! Anyway, they are nice bags, and I get a lot of people telling me they like it.

I think Cath K suits children, teens & young adults but look mumsy and jaded on grown women (every school mum at my school seems to have a CK bag). That's obviously just my personal opinion though so you can buy and wear whatever you like!

I'm not a huge fan of CK stuff but more power to you if you like it - get stuff you like and enjoy wearing, not stuff people on the internet approve of. I like more geometric type prints, if CK did an Atomic Era type print in an oilcloth bag I'd get it! I can't deny the wipe clean factor is very handy.

Yes, me too. But the fact that I've already seen a particular design many times day after day does tend to make me rather bored with/ unexcited by it, even when I liked it in the first place. Though there are of course exceptions which are 'classics' - eg, for me (and everyone's taste is personal), Longchamp Le Pliage

Cath Kidston's bags are so much nicer than Orla (drap colours) Kiely oil cloth bags.
Though Orla Kiely leather bags are lovely.
I love pastel colours and flowers so Cath Kidston stuff is pretty in my eyes.

They aren't naff. How silly! They are popular and unadventurous, a little badge saying 'slightly more expensive and middle class bag here' and the wearer can fit in and easily identify others of her tribe. They are pleasant/cute looking but have now reached the same popularity rating as converse and superdry - once the mums and dad at National Trust at the weekend have them, any 'cool' or 'unique' factor is lost.
But it's quite exhausting to be cool and unique all the time. Obviously I know this as am both

I've always been a fan of CK. I got a nappy bag when I had my daughter in 2010 but was mortified at the number I then saw when walking around Croydon! Sorry STDG. Didn't mean to cause offence but this is a forum on which people are asked for their opinions on style matters and I don't think my comments were ' nasty' - certainly not intended to be.

The ubiquitous part if what I said is simply factual -there are lots of the bags about, as the OP herself agreed.As for the words boring and twee they just reflect my own opinion, in answer to the original question, but as I said way up thread these things are very personal. Apologies.
