Can anyone recommend a Didrikson coat that is flattering?

I went and tried some on today as I'm fed up of getting wet at school. The ones I saw were all very manly . I've seen ones that look nicer on line . Has anyone got one that is a nice shape and super waterproof with a massive hood ( loved the hood!) Tia

Anyone know anything about the fit of Wolfskin coats? As a porky short size 16 I'm not sure the Didrikson is for me.

Right today I went to about 6 shops including country shops . I tried on loads and went back to the Didrikson . The hood is just brilliant !! They only had the Mary in grey and I was hoping for a navy as it suits me and I mostly wear blues and denim . So I have ordered 2 sizes of the Thelma online do I can try them and take back to a shop the one I don't want . I wanted to buy the craghoppers but it just wasn't That nice and the good was rubbish . Will update when they come .

Ah well, nariko is what you want then. Word to the wise, don't get the purple as when the hood is up you'll look a right knob. Fact Grin

It is bland but it does the trick. I'd looked for ages and just settled as I got fed up but I'm glad I did now. It's a bit longer than the north face one too so good if you're tall. The hood is great, it's got a little peak and drawstring so keeps the rain and wind out a treat.

I have the Greta and LOVE it. I am 5' and may well be swamped in it but I am a) really warm and b) really dry. Love, love, love it!

The NFAP fluff zips on/off, mine is off as its cheap looking fluff iyswim?

Dr. Nick, I'm not sure about that fluff on the hood. The didrickson ones have a fab extended hood which works well staying off your face and also keeping you dry . I need to see where I'm going. I can't believe these are the only options . I went to look again today and they are all waist length and stupid floppy hoods for £80! I have an anorak I need a proper dry solution!

Can I suggest the craghoppers nariko? It is very like the north face one that drnick linked to just without the furry bit. It's waterproof, windproof and mine was about £70. It won't win any style awards but it ticks all the boxes for me Grin

the north face is perfect for me
I wore it yesterday with a tee shirt underneath
you wouldnt need to layer knitwear under it
I use a close fititng tee shirt and fleece when I watch sport

its not THAT hot!

I'm north, where it rain A LOT.

I drive for the preschool run, but need to start getting more exercise so the coat will be getting an outing everday.

Yeah north face will be too warm and they don't seem to do a raincoat as such . I'm erring towards the Didrikson but I am curvy ( hourglass ) so I'm concerned the top half will be too big for me . The Merrell look shapely but I'm not sure I like the current models .

In Saaarf as well !
Sounds like the Northface will be too warm.
Tell us what you go for in the end.

I'm in the south , I'm a sahm , I can drive but like to walk to do school runs . I don't need to be warm just dry and wind proof . I have a feather coat ( or 2 ) and find them a not waterproof and b too hot in the medium weather . I must have a good hood . The Didrikson have an extra bit like a hat as I have a lot of curly hair which takes ages to dry .

The Merrell Wakefield Insulated ( i remembered)is my everyday warm winter coat - deals with winter weather ,rain and Im really cosy wearing it to walk to work early on winter mornings. I love the really close fitting hood and I can adjust it so it keeps the rain/wind out.

The NFAP is for seriously COLD snowy weather. I am a very cold person and I find it too warm for every day use in the winter.
Having said that I wore it a lot last year .
Where are you ? Do you drive/walk to work etc

TeamWill, do you find the Merrell one isn't as warm as the North Face one? I'm pretty warm blooded, and don't want to buy something that I'll never be cold enough to wear!

I have the Didriksons Veronica and get lots of compliments when I wear it.

The sizes are generous, but what I meant was that they are cut rather straight up and down. Wide shoulders, slimmer hips. Sp I suppose if you are biggish all over that would work too. I have tried a variety of styles and sizes and they all swamp me on top unfortunately.

I managed to track down last years Lindsey parka from an online shop based in either Norway or Denmark, cost me a (v.long) arm and leg but it's so worth it.

Barely had it off my back for the last couple of months, gets many compliments and it keeps me toasty warm and dry too!

Rather frumpy than cold here too. Cold is miserable. No one's stylish when they're miserable.

Love my cathlyn is a wee bit frumpyastic from the front but from behind it's rather cool young Scandi girl. I am so cold blooded I couldn't care less about the frump element now that I know what warmth is...and I am somebody who cares about how she looks :)
