Ear piercing for 6 to 9 months old daughter

I'd like to have my daughter's ears pierced between 6 and 9 months of age. Could anyone recommend where to go in Cental London ?

Lip piercing, tongue piercing, eyebrow piercing. Where does it end. Mutilating babies by piercing is not acceptable.

I'm another one with a bad experience with it. My mum got mine done when I was young. Can't remember the age, but probably 5-7. I ended up with a very swollen ear and neck about a year later. Sod all to do with hygiene. I developed a nickel allergy. It's apparently genetic. So to whom it says no one having it done young will have no problem. It is definitely not true.

I don't miss not having earrings.

Please don't be so cruel and inflict unnecessary pain on a innocent baby purely for vanity reasons.

If it is for cultural reasons, the best place to get it done is at the doctors surgery. At least you know everything will be sterile. I had mine done there when I was 11 - old enough to make my old decision, with my parents full agreement.

But I very very strongly disagree with piercing a baby's ears.

I am fairly sure that NHS GPs do not offer ear piercing Katzen

If you want to do it then call around your local jewellers, but wait until after the DTP jabs. Some may want to see proof of inoculation before proceeding. I wouldn't go to one who didn't want proof of DTP jab actually.

My GP pierced my ears when I was a small child.

I am aware GPs in other areas were still doing this fairly recently, certainly within the last 10 years. It's not as ludicrous a suggestion as some people seem to think!

If that is true Velvet then I think I'll write to my MP and the Minister for Health. When people can't get appt for serious conditions, on time and some surgeries are offering beauty (?) procedures, something is sorely wrong.

And what do you do to get past the dragon on reception? THis is very urgent- I need to see a dr to have my ears pierced.

I had mine done a little over 30 years ago. But AFAIK my GP was still doing this until he retired about 10 years ago. Never had any problem getting a same day appt with him for a medical condition either.

I have heard of friends of friends in and around London since then receiving a similar service from their GP.

If a GP is doing this is their own time (I don't know if any still do, but IF they do), I'm not sure I see the problem?

I really wouldn't recommend it. I stupidly let my DD (age 7) have her ears pierced a few months ago. We cleaned them religiously and followed all the instructions properly. For the last few days one of them had been red and sore. Yesterday it looked really swollen so I removed the earring and a volcano of blood and pus erupted out of it. Poor DD was in dreadful pain. Luckily she seems fine now, I have removed both earrings and have no intention of putting them back in. I really regret letting her have them done at all now.

Northumberlandlass. The journalist thought crossed my mind too, pretty much immediately. If that's true, this thread has pretty much played into their hands.

I feel very sad. It's so horribly judgemental. And MN can be such a wonderfully supportive place too.

The cultural aspect also crossed my mind too, we don't know the full circumstances here.

I don't like it on babies or toddlers personally but if others choose it that's their choice. I feel much more angry about circumcision.

I personally waited until my DDs were late primary age and wanted it done. They had no problems..

Thats the only explanation for this thread. I mean who would hurt/risk disfiguring their baby girl fir the sake of turning them into a fashion accessory?

Right now I'm gazing at my 2 month dd ( who, get this, looks beautiful to me even without metal jammed in her ear) and I feel an enormous amount of pity for your baby.

I know a lady who uses GHD's on her 24 week (yes WEEK) old baby daughter.
