BaByliss big hair - is It worth it??

I have long, frizzy hair which I can only get looking nice with GHD's. The problem with this is that it's frying my hair and it can look very flat (as well as now being in v bad condition).

I would love that 'stepped out of the hairdresser' look but is it just hype? Has anyone used this and does I actually work? It's pretty pricey so I don't want to be sucked in!

Took mine on holiday instead of a hairdryer... conked out on the first day :(

Had to buy overpriced crap hairdryer and have shit hair for the rest of my hols.

Me and the BBH were finished after that...

I wouldn't waste your money. I got thru 3 before deciding enough was enough. Did find it very easy to use tho Smile

I bought mine on MN recommendation and really like it. Got it for £29 too as was on offer at Amazon!

thanks luciani i am rather attached to my MN name! not many people get the reference....i think a lot of people think im a vicar Grin with a penchant for TuTus!

bacl to the BBH....funnily enough i have fine straight hair but loads of it. a few layers but not layered particularly.

DD has very very long hair, similar texture to mine but it did nothing for her hair - if its very long it just doesnt work.

i love it though. It works for mine really well and its so fast to do. If im wearing my hair down i use it without fail. (if its going in a bun or a clip i just rough dry it with a normal hairdryer)

It was absolutely rubbish on my hair.

Funnily enough, I was thinking only last week that there hadn't been a Babyliss big hair thread for a while!! Grin

Just too add sounds great if you have fine hair bit if you have thick hair just use hot rollers...

Report
williaminajetfighter · 19/03/2013 19:59

If you've got thick hair don't bother. It just tangles it all up and will drive you crazy.

I think you need layers to get the best result. I blow dry roughly with my hairdryer until almost dry and then finish with the BBH. I use Loreal Extraordinary oil first and get a lovely sheen.

Do put the receipt somewhere safe though - they have a 3 year guarentee - I'm am on my 3rd one - they have all gone poof!

Yes, to add, it does take ages if you have long hair, approx half an hour for me. I use giant rollers when have less time.

I do think it depends on hair type, I tried it on my sister and it was very 'meh' My hair is fine, but there's lots of it!

LarkinSky · 19/03/2013 13:09

I like it, worth the money, makes a difference. Especially for layered hair.

Meh, it's a bit of a faff for not a lot of results.

Try it but keep the receipt Wink

Use mine every morning without fail on both freshly washed and on dry hair. Gives amazing lift at the crown and your layers will thank you, I look blow-dried every day!

The best thing ever. I have loads of fine, shoulder length hair. BBH makes it smooth and bouncy. I wouldn't be without it.

Hey Vicar (even better ref than mineGrin ),I just looked back at my order history .......it's actually way less than 2 years! Got 1st one in Dec 11, 2nd in April 2012, 3rd in July 12 and the last one in December 12. I use it most days, but other than that, I can't see that I'm doing anything wrong. Confused - hair is shoulder length so I'm not using it for hours at a time, maybe I've just been unlucky?

I've got long hair, and whilst it does work, it takes aaaaages. I don't think the results are worth the time. I think a parlux hair dryer is what I need, think will have to wait till birthday though!

I would recommend. It produces bouncy, blow-dryed effect. I have long, naturally wavy hair.

I've had mine for 2 years and its still going strong. I don't wash my hair every day though so it hasn't had heavy use. I used to straighten my hair (I have naturally wavy hair that if left to air dry looks like a bad 80's perm) and find the BBH much quicker and easier on my bra strap length hair. However if you're doing it for volume be aware that it 'drops' after an hour or so (on me anyway).

Same here Framey - I am on my 4th one in less than 2 years! Shock. They either just conk out with a burning smell or the brush stops rotating. I use it most days but I generally look after my stuff and I'm not heavy handed with it so don't know why they break. Amazon have replaced them, no problem - I think they are aware that there is some kind of issue. Normally I would just ask for a refund, but I can't live without mine Blush - wish Babyliss would sort out whatever is wrong.

I excitedly bought mine used up all my Boots Advantage points after watching sali hughes' recommendation on video, she made it look SO easy.

have to say, I'm quite disappointed with it tbh. I've got long (bra-length), straight hair. maybe am not using it the right way but doesn't seem to do much for my hair, am wishing I'd used my points on something where you can't go wrong e.g. perfume!

Thanks everyone. It looks like the jury's out still! Am so tempted but it's a lot of money to spend if it doesn't work. Maybe I will try eBay....

Keep the receipt. I have had 2 which both broke after a couple of months heavy use.
I loved the effect on my hair but in the end got my money back..

Does it help keep frizzy curls nice and curly or for straigtening?
