colours and make up

Its quite interesting to me - I went to yves make up counter today and I have a cool skin tone with ash brown hair. Pale skin blue eyes and I asked what colour of lipstick they think would suit me as I'm convinced I don't have it right. She chose peach? I thought cools were meant to avoid peach tones? Anyway she said it made my eyes look much bluer, and said I shud go for peachy pink bronzers too. Any thoughts?

I think I'm a similar colouring

I had quite bright red hair for a while (probably not the best decision ever) and didn't like pinks with it. It kind of clashed. I spent ages trying to make it work, trawled round every make up counter looking for the right everyday lipstick and less pink blusher to try and pull it together. And it looked OK, but it never looked great. And it always seemed like very hard work - I needed to wear full foundation, blusher, eye make up, powder, lipstick etc in order to just look decent.

Back to dark brown and pink tones is just so much easier - I don't look wrong if my lipstick fades or I forget blusher!

thats what i thought it should be more plums soft pinks and stuff i should be wearing...

you know, i thought the lipstick did look kind of nice, but queenie has it spot on ... it looked a bit false. i don't really want that look so will keep experimenting. i would like another opinion though so will try another make up counter and hope for the right advice.

Rose tones not peach. You are looking for browny-pinks or plums. Keep it cool toned.

There are some make-up people who labour under the idea that blue needs orange. Not if you have a cool skintone/hair colour. It will just look false. Try taupes and ivories on eyes with a little champagne highlighted when you want a stronger look. Also lilacs can look pretty if applied sparingly. Sometimes grey can look a bit heavy but see if it works for you.

Also bronzers will look muddy on a cool complexion. Best avoided.

I think many make up people have an obsession with 'adding warmth', which is not good if you have cool skin. Does the lipstick look nice?
