Grown-up hair

I really need some help to have grown-up hair - my hair is really thick, mid-brown, and is a bit longer than shoulder length. I have a blunt fringe that I like to wear quite short. I don't like layers on me, so it's all just cut one length. I straighten it every day (even if I'm wearing it in a pony tail ), and I like that it's not faffy, and is nice and simple etc.

The problem is that I always usually wear it up in a pony tail for work. I use a plain black hairband, and 2 kirby grips to keep the annoying bits that fall down at the sides up. I suspect that this is not grown-up hair.

What could I try ?

Someone had a good thing for fixing a nun ring- hair band, bun ring on, spread hair over ring and tuck in, put another band over the whole thing. Can't find the thread though and her explanation was clearer!

Yes, I'm supposed to wear it up when I'm working in the lab. I think it would be long enough for a bun ring (although I'm not exactly sure how they work!), so I'll look into that. Thanks for the tip about Clare's Accessories too.

Gosh, we're like hair opposites . Hopefully someone will come along to tell us what to do!

Your hair sounds lovely, do you have to wear it up for work? If so is it long enough to go in a bun ring? Clares accessories have lots if odd looking things for putting hair up, might be worth a look?
And if anyone has any ideas for grown up hair that is very fine and limply wavy, I am all ears!
