Logistics of a full house?

Ok so I’m about to move house on Friday. I have a DS22, DD16, DS14 and one due in December. My partner has DD17 and DS14.

At the time of buying the house by eldest said he wouldn’t be moving with us as he was buying his own place anyway, there has been a bit of a delay and he will now be living with us until about Jan/Feb. My partners DD17 said she wouldn’t be moving with us as she’s off to uni next year (she currently living with grandparents and has no contact with her Mum) but has since changed her mind and now would like to move in as well.

We’ve bought a 4 bed house, it’s fairly big all double bedrooms. But logistically everyone can’t have their own room. How do we make it fair and who shares with who?

with regards to step-children sharing rooms it depends how they get on. maybe have a family meetings and let them know there isn't enough room and see if you can all come to some kind of arrangement

I would give your DD16, your ds14 and your bf’s dd16 room each straight off as they are there in the house constantly and need their space. Your DS22 can share with the 14 year old for now till he gets his own place and your partners 17 year old will either have to share with your DD16 till she goes to uni or if she doesn’t like that idea she might have to continue living in her grandparents till she goes.

Now the baby will be with you until they are a bit older and by that time one of the others may be leaving for uni or with a partner.

What about teenage step-siblings sharing rooms?

We do have a study as well but I don’t think it’s ok as a room. It’d be ok for overnight stay which was the original plan but it’s not ok as a full-time bedroom.

I forgot about the baby... Blush

Baby will share with you until at least one so perhaps by then DD16 will be looking at uni

22DS has own room until Jan/Feb when he moves out, 16 & 17 DD's share until jan/Feb with one moving into the now vacant room & the 2x 14DS's share.

When 17DD goes to uni one of the boys can move into the vacant room
