This feedback thread is from the Mumsnetters who attended exclusive preview screenings of the new Sony Pictures film – ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ on 8th May.

You view the trailer here.

The Angry Birds Movie Synopsis:
In the 3D animated comedy, The Angry Birds Movie, we'll finally find out why the birds are so angry. The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We're the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, This Is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

I must have messed up posting this. About to have deja vu typing it again...

Q1. Who did you attend the screening with – including the ages of your DC
I attended the London showing with my 2 DDs who are 7 and 5 years old.

Q2. Your overall summary of the film
We loved it. As we left DD1 asked when we could buy the DVD. I loved the humour that worked at adult and child level. I also liked that the film had a message that not all anger is bad, sometimes 'negative' emotions can be a force for good; nothing is black or white.

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? What was their favourite character?
DD1 loved the bit where Mighty Eagle urinated into the lake, that the other birds had just been swimming in.
DD2 said she loved 'all of it'.

Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?
5 from all of us.

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening?
DDs loved seeing the characters in the foyer. The bags were greeted with much enthusiasm (The masks in the bags are still in use now) and the DDs and I happily enjoyed the popcorn (and later the pepparami-based picnic in St James' Park).

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?
Already have. Put it on my facebook before the day was out.

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? His favourite part was when Bomb exploded himself when in the piggies land.
What was their favourite character? Bomb
Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? 5
How many would your DC give it? 5
Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening? Great venue, helpful staff and my little boy LOVED the Angry Birds. Must have been super hot in those suits! lol. A great job by all! Great goodie bags too!

I took my two sons aged 6 and 9 to see the angrybirds movie at the picture house movie theatre on Shaftesbury avenue. Despite living very locally it was the first time I'd been to this movie theatre and my children and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were greeted by red bird and his two angrybird friends and even had a goody bag filled with yummy mini pepperami and popcorn waiting for us. I was originally apprehensive because I had low expectations, but my children really loved the movie. The movie bares resemblance to the game and is fast paced and action packed, so littles one will not get bored. The story line follows the angry red bird and his attempts to save his island from the evil green piggies, despite not being supported by his fellow islander's red eventually prevails and saves the day. My children particular loved the humour in the movie and their favourite part was when "bomb exploded with anger". I would give this movie a rating of 4/5 I would recommend this movie to friends and family, especially in 3d to fully appreciate the special effects.

I attended the screening with my DC's ages 7 and 6.

My DC's favourite character was red because of his transformation from a ' badie' to a 'goodie'.

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening? I thought everyone at the screening was very friendly and the masks popcorn were very happy received. We also liked the characters who came to visit.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?

Q1. Who did you attend the screening with – including the ages of your DC

I attended the Manchester screening with my husband and 2 sons age 7 and 6. Unfortunately due to the screening problems we didn't see it on the initial day but we used the free tickets to come back and see it when it was released.

Q2. Your overall summary of the film

The film was about how the bird on the island followed red and became angry. This was in response to the pigs who came to bird island to steal their eggs.

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? What was their favourite character?

There was a lot of genuinely funny parts to the film. They agreed that one of their favourite bits was when the eagle wee'd in the pool. My 7 year old loved Bomb and my 6 year old loved Red.

Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?

I would give it 4 out of 5 as I felt it got a bit dull in the middle of the film. My DC give it 5 out of 5, my 6 year old said it was epic.

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening?

Well the screening was a little disappointing as we didn't get to see the film then. The staff however handles it really well and as they allowed us to go and see another film on the day as well as giving us the free tickets, we got to see Captain America which was ace! The popcorn and water went down a treat at the screening and the goody bag was a lovely surprise also.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?

Yes, it was funny, super funny for the kids and there were genuine heroes to root for. Thanks Mumsnet :-).

  1. I visited the Manchester screening with dh, ds aged 4 and dd aged 5.
  2. I would love to give a review of the film, but due to technical difficulties it could not be shown. This means I can't really answer questions 2 to 4.
  3. I thought that the screening was very good. I was impressed by the staff and the welcome we received. I thought that the goody bag was a lovely touch. It was the first time we had gone as a family to the Trafford Centre cinema and I was disappointed that we could not see Angry Birds, but it was unavoidable.
  4. I would love to go and see the film as the reviews of the film are great. I am hoping to use our free tickets, but it was a shame that another showing could not have been organised.

We didn't get to see the film as my not so DH deleted both emails informing me I had been offered tickets. Unfortunately due to work having a mobile phone ban and a late finish, I didn't see the text that was then sent until after the deadline had passed. I would however like to say a huge thank you to Mumsnet for going above and beyond to get the message to me.

Q1. Who did you attend the screening with – including the ages of your DC
I took my 2 DS of 5 and 4 years of age.

Q2. Your overall summary of the film
It was fun for both the kids and the adults in the audience. The story was obviously meant to attract the kids' imagination but there were plenty of sneaky jokes and cultural references for the adults to enjoy too!

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? What was their favourite character?
Their favourite character was Red (closely followed by Chuck). Their favourite parts were any time one of the birds got hurt in a silly way because, apparently, both my DS are big into Slapstick!

Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?
I would rate it a 4 myself. My DS rated it it 'Awesome out of 5'.

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening?
It was quite straightforward and pleasant. The DS got to interact with the mascots both before and after the movie. They loved the goodies too... especially the youngest DS that decided it was his mission to eat all the Peperami minis!

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?
I would recommend it for people with children, yes. For an adult going solo it does not make as much sense to me.

Q1. Who did you attend the screening with – including the ages of your DC

My husband and I took our two children (son 8yrs old and daughter 6yrs old).

Q2. Your overall summary of the film

Lead bird, Red, grows up miserable and misunderstood and angry. With his regular fits of anger, he doesn't seem to fit in and is instead sent to anger management classes. When the pigs arrive on the island, Red is the only one who is suspicious of their motives.

It was fun (surprisingly for us grown ups too!) and we all loved it.

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? What was their favourite character?

They loved it when the birds attacked the pigs' island.

Both of them loved Red the best, with speedy Chuck coming a close second. I rather liked the mean and moody Terence.

Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?

I'd give it 4/5, the children 5/5.

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening?

It was well organised; didn't feel hectic, stressful or crowded at any point (we attended the London screening).

The children were really excited to see the birds at the screening and wouldn't stop talking to them.

The staff were all helpful and friendly.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?

Yes, definitely! It was very enjoyable for all of us, with no scary moments for the children. We all had a laugh at the different characters.

Q1. Who did you attend the screening with – including the ages of your DC

I went with my five year old daughter and seven year old son

Q2. Your overall summary of the film

Very funny animated film answering all the questions you never knew you had about the angry birds game

Q3. What was your DC’s favourite part of the film? What was their favourite character?

My daughter liked Red and my son liked the anger management teacher. They both like a happy ending!

Q4. Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it?

We'd all give it five stars. I loved the music and there were enough jokes to keep adults amused

Q5. Overall, what was your experience like of the screening?

We had a fantastic time. The cinema was great, we loved the goody bags and the film was very funny and entertaining.

Q6. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend ‘The Angry Birds Movie!’ to friend and family? Why?

Definitely. It managed to keep all three of us engaged. My 5 year old got a bit upset at one point but it's suitable for young kids, she's scared of everything! There's enough to keep adults and older kids interested too.

Went to Manchester screening with 3 excited kids but unfortunately due to technical issues we were unable to watch Angry Bird. However, as a goodwill gesture odeon gave everyone who attended the screening free tickets to come back at anytime at any odeon cinema and also had the chance to go and watch any film which were on at the time, and we chose Zootropolis and what amazing film we laughed all the way through. Thanks for the popcorn and goody bag. xx
