Following the preview events held in Liverpool and London recently, we've been asked by Activision, the makers of Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, to find 10 Mumsnetters to be Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Wii testers.

We're looking for eight MN testers (and their children) to go to an exclusive Skylanders Spyro's Adventure event at Hamleys toy store, London on Sunday 9th October. This special event, taking place between 9am & 11am is by invitation only with the store closed to the general public during this time. Event guests will enjoy a yummy buffet breakfast alongside a host of Skylanders themed magical activities, meet some very special guests and be one of the first to play Skylanders Spyro's Adventure before it hits the shops.
(Please note the event may be filmed and photographed and the resulting collateral will potentially be used for international marketing).

We then invite these MNers to test the new Skylanders Spyro's Adventure game at home, add feedback on Mumsnet and make a short video with your review of the game.

As we appreciate not everyone will be able to make this date, an additonal two MN testers will be selected, who would like to take part in the game testing and video reviews, but are unable to attend the event.

About Skylanders Spyro's Adventure

Here's what Activision say about the game "In Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, you can 'Bring Your Toys to Life' in a boldly innovative adventure game where players collect real-world interaction figures and transport them directly into the game using the mystical Portal of Power?. Skylanders Spyro's Adventure changes the way we look at toys and videogames, as well as how we interact with them by introducing action figures that become interaction figures and remember all of their dynamic experiences created in the game. The game is designed for children aged 7+"

If you are selected

If you are selected as a tester, and are able to attend the event, you will attend the Hamleys event with your children (with regret, max one adult and up to two children) and will receive a dedicated demonstration of Skylanders.

If you are unable to attend the event we will send you some information about the game via email.

The game launches on 14th October and on this day, all selected testers will be sent a game starter kit (worth £60) as well as a flip camera to record their feedback. We'll ask testers to answer some suggested questions to camera as well as film their children playing the game. We'd like you to test the game for a week and during this time film your review. We will then ask that you return the cameras - the film will be edited and then be used on the Skylanders pages on Mumsnet and possibly elsewhere (it will be hosted on YouTube) as well as for Activision marketing purposes. You will also need to add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. Video reviews need to be done in the week after 14th October.

Everyone who is selected as a tester, adds their feedback to a thread on Mumsnet and records video feedback, will be able to keep the game starter kit and toy figures (worth £60).

Please only apply if you...
a) are able to attend the Hamleys press event on Sunday 9th October between 9am - 11am, OR live in the UK and are willing to test the game
b) have a Wii console
c) are around on 14th October to receive the game and in the following week to test it and make the video
d) are willing to make the video of your feedback and of your kids playing the game for online usage

If you have any questions, please do ask.

To sign up please add your details here

We will be in touch with selected testers and event attendees ASAP.

Thanks
MNHQ

So far no problems with the portal but all the characters we have all say need to rest so can't play! Restarting the level seems to have sorted it so I assume they all ran out of health. Can't find any info.in booklet about it.

We have had no problems with the portal or the characters. I especially like that the portal is wireless.

Stupid Question Alert: how long did you have to charge your camera for before you could record anything. My three are sitting staring at the package they aren't allowed to open because I want to video them opening it!

Our camera was already fully charged.

Apparently it is now at our neighbours. Sadly our neighbours are not! Hope they get home soon.

Neighbour home. We have the box and... camera is not charged. The leaflet says that it is supposed to be partly charged, but it didn't turn on at all. It is plugged into the computer USB now, and the right light is flashing so hopefully can try again in two hours (time it takes, according to leaflet). Which is bed time! What are my chances of persuading them to sleep?

Good luck, mine took all night to charge! I had no problem getting anyone out of bed this morning though...

Right, camera charged. Am afraid the kids kept opening the box while I was fiddling round trying to charge camera....

Filming dc playing the game is tricky. They all sit quietly because they are concentrating! I'm trying to get some commentary or excitement out of them or it will be a very dull video!
I hope my bad cold goes before I have to film myself! Bright red nose isn't very good on camera!

Tortoise - we had the same problem, asking questions and getting shushed!

Mine are all very 'into' the game as well. The liveliest bits are when DD2 isn't doing exactly what DD1 wants her to and I'm not sure that MN is ready for that sort of reality TV. I've had better luck when the game isn't on, and I ask them to explain each character and what it does.

I got some classic interaction of my girls being very rude to each other while playing. The older one gets very bossy and the younge one gets very defiant. Also did a bit of an interview with each one about different aspects of the game, got DD1 explaining how to set up the game and the opening of the box.
We had a lot of trouble charging the camera though but I was sad to say goodbye to it :(
