This year is the 8th international Toyota Dream Car competition so if you can think up the coolest futuristic car you can, draw or paint it, then you could be off to the 8th Toyota Dream Car Art Contest world final in Japan next year. In addition to this Toyota are offering Mumsnetters and their LOs an additional chance to enter.

Here's what Toyota say: "Here at Toyota were always thinking ahead, wondering what the cars of the future will look like. It takes a lot of imagination to think of new designs, so weve decided to ask the people who might one day be driving those cars."

The competition is split into three categories:

  • Under eights
  • 8 - 11 year olds
  • 12 - 15 year olds

It would be great to get as many children involved so don't forget to tell their friends or even the teachers!

What you need to do?
Simply get your DCs to paint or draw their dream car and give it a cool background so we can imagine what this will look like on the road. Or in the sky or even underground.....Don't use a computer to do it .. as that's cheating! Grin And the paper you use must be A3 in size. Full T&Cs here

How do you send in entries?
Download the entry form here - Then post your design to Mumsnet (full address on T&Cs)
Please make sure all entries are signed by parent or guardian too.

How long do I have to enter?
MN competition closes on 16th December and our very own CarrieMumsnet will choose the top design from each age category. The three winners will each receive a £250 Amazon voucher.
All entries will then be sent to Toyota (GB) PLC and entered into the UK competition which closes on 24th January and followed by awards ceremony on 19th February 2014. If your DC entry makes if into the final of the UK competition this will be entered into the the worldwide contest and you never know the whole family could be jetting of to Japan for the final prize giving next summer.

For more details on this competition you can visit //www.toyota.co.uk/dream-car

Also, we'd love to see your creations on this thread too - post a pic of your LOs creation or just describe the features they'd like to see in a car of the future on this thread - £50 Love2shop voucher for one person who posts on this thread.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Phew, I thought LO meant loved one ie partner (male) so was going to rant about sexism.

But it's Little One, aww, cute.

My LOs fav would be a 7cm noddy type car with a flashing blue light on the front and maybe soft bumpers as he is teething.
In fact this could be a great seller Toyota - teething cars Smile
LO is 6 months btw.

Oh and she drew a Robert Wiseman Lorry in the background for interest (odd child).

Oooh, Bonzo. I do like your DD's thinking. You'll have to teach her that red wine shouldn't be in fridge though.

My 3 year old described her perfect car to me today, it would be pink (obviously!), there would be trays tables on the back of the front seat (so that she can fold it down and do drawing), she would need a cup holder and it should have enough space in the boot to store her baby brother for when he's crying.

I must post my ds's picture, unfortunately he didn't get it finished in time to post along with his sister's. He's not the best at drawing but was very proud of himself! He created the solar sphere, a large sphere that rolls along with people inside, powered by the sun.

AWimbaWay · 23/12/2013 15:20

So, here's 6 yr old Ds's Solar Sphere, like I said his fine motor skills are still a little behind, but he put a lot of effort in and was really chuffed with himself!

8 - 11 years - Catriona N. (11) with The Dreamcatcher - The dreamcatcher travels around the world in one hour collecting bad dreams and spreading good ones. It's made of rainbows.

Well done! Thank you everyone who sent in their entries, it was lovely to see what your DCs came up with Smile - CarrieMumsnet had to make some very hard calls!
