Down's Syndrome

We meet the couple - Paul and Andrea - who had to fight for 10 years to get married. The only thing stopping them was they both had Down's Syndrome.

Oh dear.. have you all gone off to slit your wrists??! Come back! Sorry for being depressing!!

Yes I thought the guy with the camera was great too... loved his questions.. Maybe I was autistic in a previous life because my mind works fairly like that as well..! I just don't voice it!

Sorry to be pessimistic.. but I keep worrying lately on and off about the far distant future.. and what will happen when we aren't around to look after Alex anymore.. Does anyone else have a worry like this? Watching this programme tonight made me think about it again..

I know someone who pays into a scheme to ensure her autistic son will be 'taken care of' but it's not just about money is it? (Can't afford to do it anyway...)

I likede it - thought lots of it was hilarious, but ended up in tears- loathe, hagte and detest thinking about the future. There's a Camphill community near us.

Thought the autistic guy with the camera was great (so random- love it), and liked Barry and Anthony. Liked them all to be honest even poor old Pamela.

Now I want to bea houseparent and bring ds1 up somewhere safe. I'd like that to be a possibility for him becuase it was loving andc safe, but I'm not sure he'll ever be capable of living that independently.

(PML @ Penny!! Alex takes one look at her, shuffles over to the nearest chair and starts doing is standing up and sitting down routine because he gathers that this is what she expects of him! Whereas he won't do it for me!! )

Re: Strangest Village.. I like Anthony.. and Nan is sweet!

Actually I have the hump with Pamela too, SN or not!

(Fio.. yes Kamala is amusing isn't she! She has great confidence in Alex though.. so I approve of her! )

(Kamala is a mutual physio of our children so it turns out.. in case anyone is wondering!)
