...and I got a free place as a parent....! Its a 3 day course and so far Ive found it very good. My sons poratge soon finshes so I m hpoing that Ill be able to carry on with some the same principles and use and techniques that they work with.

The course covers a range of things- how to work with families who have a special needs child ( obviously I was able to provide the parents perespective!) how to plan activites and break them down so that they are achieveable etc. plus lots more

Just thought it might be worth people asking if they could get on the portage course in their area....some people may find it useful, I know I have

How long did you wait for? All we have received is one letter and one phonecall saying he's on the waiting list and is no. 7, but that that is meaningless.

It is beyond frustrating, and beyond a joke.

Do any private organisations offer what the Portage Association offers? Apart from his neurologist, the only people who have done anything for DS2 are private people/ organisations...

Sorry if I sound like a broken record!

There is a national portage association and they have a webiste but not sure what information that would give you but it might be worth a try?? Whlst we were on the wiating list we had someone from portage to come and see us monthly...does your portage not offer that??

Sounds great.

DS2 is on the waiting list. He's number 7, but they told me that's meaningless, and when they'll actually see him depends on their workload. Reading stories of people who have had their DCs on waiting lists for several years and still not getting to the top has not made me too hopefull that he'll get to the top.

Are there any resources on-line that will tell me the principles, so I can do some stuff at home with him (as if I don't have enough to keep him and me out of trouble as it is....)

Hope the last day is good too.
