Firstly HNY to you all. We've had an interesting week here. DS4 decided on Christmas day that he was suddenly going to begin PECS when he couldn't get my attention, while I was cooking turkey. He passed my DH a card for a drink. Since then he has moved from stage 1 PECS to Stage 3 in ten days! Astonishing!

Fab stuff, Sallybear!

HazeyJane - I would keep them there because they're fab and creative, until a certain time, because they can't just stay there forever and start to look messy, and then everyone has to clean them off. Taking a picture before the cleaning off might make saying goodbye a lot easier.

Have managed to keep DS1 calm, this week, even after returning from my parents'. DS2 has been interesting. He's mastered so many new skills, motor skills in particular, and his receptive language has come on in leaps and bounds. He's been bored and a little shit (quite literally :o) this afternoon and evening, though!

Hello all !
And a very happy new year to you and yours :)
Not much to report...ds1 has been great over the hols, ds2 less so but ats being 4 I guess :)
I start my degree course (!) next month...am having a major wobble as I got all my stuff today and it looks very hard :(
So glad to hear all the good news :)

Ds2 didn't do the leg thing either. We called it colic, but really it was just endless screaming every single evening. Iirc the osteopath said it was related to neck, head problems from a rapid delivery. His labour wasn't long, but all three of mine shot out like rockets right at the end! Blush Grin

Hope he sleeps for a while now and lets you get some rest and that your mum can help for a while tomorrow.

Pidj, either you can sneak the drops in the side of his mouth while feeding, or dip your nips in them Grin. Glad dp is home.

Have you had a chance to leave a message for your HV to come round? (might work even better if you get MIL to ring and sashes worried about you not eating enough Wink). If this situation doesn't make you eligible for a homestart volunteer then I don't know what would.

He is very squidgable! 10pm means calm - although I'm always terrified it won't work - if the pattern repeats he'll now sleep 2+ hours in his crib. If...

timetraveller is it flu? One of the dc has been so poorly with it, and sounds similar. We have lived at the gps recently.
Glad to see you are back exben I have been wondering how you were?
Happy to second any babysitting offers - mine are all getting towards a bit too old to be squidgled now!

It's not colic though, he doesn't do the leg thing?? And he's ebf. I'll see if my mumcan take him out for an hour tomorrow. Dp is desperate to but doesn't have the strength on the left side yet. That's the most frustrating thing.

Thank you Moose, that's very helpful! I will "politely" remind them of the NICE guidelines although I suspect that the delay is due to all the cuts to the NHS...

We used colief with dd and infacol with the boys.

The only thing that worked for ds2 - who had the worst colic ever - was cranial osteopathy. It literally changed him overnight and he slept for 10 hours straight after the first session. He had 6 sessions in all, but was a different child after the first one.

Is there anyone you can call to take over for a while so you can get a break Pidj?

SallyBear · 04/01/2013 21:33

Pidj. Get some colief. It's brilliant stuff. A few drops into milk and the colic goes away. It gives them horrid nappies, but a small price to pay compared with screaming colic. I discovered it for DS3. Wish I'd know about it earlier.

Aw Pidj, I wish I could come and babysit for a few hours for you so you could both get some sleep. Sad

You are right, 'this too shall pass' but it's bloody hard while you're going through it. ((bigger hugs))

Thanks, Moose, I'm fine as long as i don't do anything at all for myself. Like wash. Or drink. I've been trying to keep ds calm through the evening colic/cluster so dp can sleep. 4 hours now and he's still wide awake while the tears roll silently down my face.

This too shall pass, right?

TheTimeTravellersWife - if it helps at all, I found out on the Epilepsy Action website today that the NICE guidelines for being seen after a suspected first seizure is 2 weeks - so that might give you something to prod them with.

Sorry to hear dd is poorly. Hope she's feeling better soon.

Sounds like people are having a good NY.

My dd has SN (a degenerative hip condition) but next Friday she's hopefully having a scan test (needing ga) to say it's over!!

The SN mums have been amazing to me since she was diagnosed at age 3 (she just turned 9) and with those 6 years in a wheelchair and major buggy! But 2013 is going to be great as she'll hopefully get discharged apart from annual x-rays till she's 18.

Wishing you all well!!

Happy new year!
Dd is ill with a high temperature and aches & pains, poor thing, means that DS and I are stuck indoors, getting a little stir crazy.
Appointment has come through to see the neurologist re: DD's possible epilepsy for end of March, which seems a long time to wait since referral made in December. Will phone and try for a cancellation.
Exciting news on the offer on a house Star.
Sallybear that's a great Christmas present from little bear!
Having taken all the decs down today, but still need to Hoover up all the dropped pine needles.

Pidj, I'm so sorry, I didn't know about your dp. Glad to hear he's home and has a good prognosis. How are you coping with everything though? So much for you to deal with, with the gorgeous PidjChick making his arrival as well. Hope you are being well taken care of as well as your dh. ((hugs))

Is it really Friday? Had a bad case of the grumps today. At least it was a bit more dry and the kids got to play outside on trampoline and bikes. First time I've seen them with pink noses for weeks. I'm so ready for a break from them going back to school but really dreading my youngest going back. Got the appointment for feedback from multi disciplinary, it's half an hour? Is that all it takes? Hello your child is/isn't autistic. Have a nice life. Bye Bye. ??? Feel a bit rotten about everything really. Just wondering what this half term is going to bring. Finding it very hard, the thought of taking him back to school when I know they don't want him there and now I don't either, but I need to overcome my negative feelings about it.
