Hi, not sure whether to post this here or in the Christmas thread, apologies if in the wrong place!!

I thought this might be a nice little thread to start and to help give us all ideas, I am running out of them! Any ideas?

I normally spend about £25-30 on my daughters full time one to one but never know if this is enough. I have bought in the past-watch, handbag, Molton brown, vouchers(boring, but I was stuck), cath kidston and DVD bundle.

I grew up in the states, and the idea of bringing a bottle of alcohol in to the teacher would be a HUGE no-no!! (especially considering that booze is generally not allowed on school grounds) So I have to admit that I won't even consider it as a teacher or TA gift. It just doesn't seem right to me - and I'll readily admit it's my own background that makes me feel that way, not because of any booze hangups or whatever. And I'm not slamming those who bring in a bottle of wine for the teacher.

I tend to avoid the "teacher's gifts" threads like the plague, as I think it brings out some very poor qualities in some of the teachers posting on there about their preferences.

I would never bring a gift for the teacher and bring nothing for the TA. That's just rude IMO. We literally brought in a card/bookmark gift for everyone that worked regularly with DS2, including the SENCO. It wasn't much, but I just wanted them to know we appreciated what they did for him.

We may put together some goodies to bring in. We have nice, clean children Hmm so I guess they'll be eaten (the goodies, not the children Grin).

Sallybear- I am very tempted...I think I will make them for my husband first and if they turn out ok I will make some for school. My LO has done a "starry scene" Christmas card this morning, but I don't think it will be dry for a while!!Xmas Wink

'I am so sorely tempted to get her a book on teaching children with SEN!'

I did this, gave a book specifically on ds's rare syndrome to the school - they now admit they can't meet his needs Sad

Oh and I will make sure DS digs his garden worms before he mixes for the fussy ones!

When my boys were younger they used to make a christmas decoration for their teachers and TAs. They loved making either heart or start hama bead decorations and choosing a pretty ribbon to string them onto.

This year dd's teacher and TA are getting a tiny owl each, purely because they have been learning about owls and when I asked her what she wanted to give then she said 'owls' and she chose them herself. They are really tiny though, so not something they have to put on display if not to their taste.

The boys' teachers and TAs are getting a small box of chocolates each from Hotel Chocolat. I think they are about 6.00 each on the website, but you get a discount for buying 3 or more. I made my own last year and did christmas cupcakes the year before, but am not up to it this year.

All the dcs make christmas cards for their teachers and TAs as well, but I keep it simple by buying christmassy stickers and card toppers, rather than facing the trauma that is ds1 and crafting.

I always do home/hand made and get Bee to help.

This year, it'll be a bouquet of home made sweets on sticks like this but the sweets will be made by us and stuck on bamboo skewers. I will make a couple of baubles and Christmas decorations to hang off the container (I usually use vases or buckets from the discount store) and send it in. I spend way less than a tenner per recipient and we can make them all in a day.

Since Bee has 17 people to give to (therapists, teacher, 1:1 etc.) I'd much rather spend time making something than a whole bunch of money we don't have.
