So when do you apply for EHCP!

Sorry I’m so new to this. Had two terms of nursery and seems to be making progress on individual support plan. However he isn’t there that often - only a few hours a day. I think he masks and it comes out when home. But if he’s making progress on there I guess its a no to EHCP?

He starts school in September. How on earth will he cope at school without one? Full days, less support and no 1:1. Will we have to have two terms of (potential) hell before applying?

We’ve had our autism diagnosis already and clinical psychologist said she doesn’t work in a school so won’t know specifics but thinks he would need one.

Request an EHCNA yourself now.

Have you spoken to the nursery staff about what they think and an idea how they feel he'll cope? If he manages in the nursery setting it might be tricky for them to give suitable evidence although you can still apply for one.

If one isn't done and he starts to struggle once he's started school the school will also be able to apply for one for him.

I second requesting the EHCNA.

Could you ask nursery to give you a list of all the support he currently receives (quantified by time and ideally cost)? And take that and a description of his needs to his prospective school, and ask what they'll be able to support via the Local Offer provision?
