My 12mo girl has recently started waking in the night for between 1-3 hours and she is close to breaking me.

I think she's waking as she's hungry but I can't get her to increase her food intake in the day. Also she sometimes has two bottles in that wakeful period and even that doesn't settle her. She seems wide awake and very unsure of what she wants: she wriggles and squirms if I hold her but cries to be picked up if I put her down.

Up until around a week ago she was sleeping from 6:30-4am, a little hug or pat when she woke and then would sleep again until 6am. That was a dream. Will she ever go back to anything close to that again? What am I doing wrong?

She naps from 10:30-12 in the day.

Thank you for all the ideas - I will try everything! My husband did wonder about diluting the milk down, exactly as you suggest. We'll try that tonight and I'm going to look at getting the other milk right now! She WILL stop waking for her midnight party!

I think now they are over 12 months there's really no excuse is there?! I've just come out for a walk with ds to tire him out and he's fallen asleep - typical! So do I wake him up and walk round the park with a grouchy baby or do I have a few minutes peace in the sunshine and suffer the consequences later?

Oh gosh - that is a tricky one! How did it go in the end? I hope you embraced the peace and quiet?

I had a night off last night and am feeling recharged. You're right though, 12 months+ I really wouldn't have expected this! We're into our 4th week of it, when will the "this too shall pass" come true??
