Night out with a baby - bedtime routine

I have a 14 week DD who is a pretty good sleeper (for now!). We do bath, massage, feed and bed and she is usually away by 8pm. She gets up between 3 - 4 for a feed and then up for the day at 7 - 8.

We've been invited to a family party next weekend which I have to go to - have been criticised lots for not going to any social occasions (I may have used DD as an excuse more than once..).

I really don't want to break her routine - has anyone experience of this? Is it better to try and replicate the routine, maybe using a travel cot, or should I carry her in a sling and let her sleep in there?

The added complication is that there will be fireworks at the party which is bound to unsettle her - a bus backfired today and she started screaming.

Would be grateful for any tips! Thanks

Thanks very much all, some great suggestions. Love the flannel one, will defo do that. Sure she will be fine for one night and I'm worrying over nothing.

I'd take a flannel, wash her face, put on her night clothes, feed her and take her a 20 min or so walk outside in sling or pram to soothe her to sleep, then go back to the party -hopefully she'll continue to sleep for a good while. When/if she wakes later I'd leave then -you need your sleep too Smile

Woops

..whatever YOU will find most relaxing so can get some enjoyment out of the evening. That may be a sling if she will sleep in it / you can carry her about all night, it buggy / travel cot if there is somewhere to park / shove it.

Good luck!

As it's only for one night it shouldn't throw her routine off too much so I would do whatever y

Thanks Emma, I think so too! But I can't get out of this one. Just not sure how to go about it...

No tips, just wanted to say I think a newborn is a completely legitimate reason not to do things!

She's only a few months old, plenty of time for socialising as she gets older.
