Anyone, anywhere know what the hell is going on with my 10MO?

Hello All

I am just so confused. For the last 4 nights she screams when I put her to bed and goes hell for leather until I go in and get her. Earlier in the day she went down for her morning nap like an angel.

Is is seperation anxiety? Earlier when I brought her downstairs she kept grinning and I can't help but feel like she is playing game with us but she is so small and I can't quite believe she would be manipulating us already. Can she?!

Not ear infection so guess we just have to ride the storm!

Thank god it's not just this house - DS 9mo about to walk anyday now, he goes down in his cot fine for naps, but come evening I'm up and down the stairs like a yoyo.

Sigh.

tbh, i find this harder than having a newborn.

It's an inability for their brains to stop practising the skill they're trying to crack. Usually happens around the time of huge developmental milestones. Key signs are that their sleep patterns change, they really struggle to settle, hate lying down, wake up often (sometimes moving around a LOT in their sleep and waking themselves up), stand in the cot howling with frustration etc.

It's not their fault or manipulation in the true sense. Their brains are going 'GET UP STAND UP GET UP STAND UP' and the ability to sleep/self settle etc disappears.

It comes back though and my only advice is that you just get through it. Do what you have to. It's as frustrating for them as it is us. Don't be afraid to do what you need to do. I found it harder than having a newborn in some ways. Soon she'll crack walking and she'll be doubly tired from all the tottering around.

The thing is I assumed teething but when she was downstairs with me she was all smiles and smug so I don't think she was in pain ec. Yes she is pulling herself up all the time...that may be it!

Should also say I'm assuming no earache, no teething pains etc? Earache for example is always worse seemingly when lying down.

It could be separation anxiety but it's also likely that there's a developmental thing going on. Usually happens around the time they start standing and thinking about walking. Is she pulling up lots atm?
