Maths teachers- sorry another predicted grade question

What would you predict for the following

Maths

c1 97 ums A
C2 87 A
D1 86 A

further maths
M1 86 A
fp 76 B
d2 42 (think this is right E)

Back story
DS had a really bad patch from christmas to half term last year, he did get AAE for jan tests and resat M1 and bought that up to A. Went badly downhill and lost confidence but obviously has turned it around.
Obviously wants to resit D2, which he didnt put as much revision in for as the others.

Many thanks

M1 can go into maths, so he only needs average of 62 for C3 and C4 to get an A which looks comfortable even allowing for the increase in difficulty, but an average of 90 on them to get an A which with no retakes this year (due to no Jan modules) might be rather tougher. So I'd say maths looks like a safeish A with a possibility of A.

futher maths is harder to predict, but with a track record of an E in one module in each sitting so far, and with all the modules having to be done at once this time around and with the difficulty level increasing quite a bit, I would think a B prediction wouldn't be unreasonable.

Thanks
I did get confused and the M1 is actually in Maths and D1 is in FM

His teacher originally predicted A and C. She is willing to change the A to A but is sticking firmly to a C for the FM. We havent got involved, but just trying to work out if the C is reasonable or not. DS says she has given "aspirational" predictions to other students ie an A for ABB for maths, but is completely refusing to budge the FM C, which doesnt seem fair in his eyes.
He did have a very bad patch and his teacher basically said to us he was on target for Us at one stage, so she has seen him turn everything around.
We have said to him that the predicted grade doesnt mean he will only get a C, and the only person stopping him getting higher is himself. However, he wants to be an engineer and feels the C predicted grade will stop him getting the courses he wants. He has emailed the unis today to see if this is the case.

It's all quite flexible where the non core modules go (explanation at the bottom if you are interested), so if he did get the C3&4 results needed for an A the D2 result could go into the maths bucket without needing a resit (think carefully about resiting that one, it may be better to focus on the others, and it may also be worth considering where it is in the exam timetable too before making the choice). I think the teacher is being a little harsh, although a C grade is certainly not a wildly unlikey possible outcome. My view would be that a B grade at further maths would be more likely than an A at maths, so it seems odd she would change one and not the other (or at least not change f. maths instead of the maths). Perhaps the school has a policy of not predicting higher than has been achieved at AS?

Definitely what he actually achieves will be down to him though and nothing to do with her prediction. As far as universities go though, I would think all but the most competitive would be glad he has done further maths rather than not, and maybe he can include his AS results (perhaps even module scores) on UCAS to indicate his ability. Where is he thinking of and what type of engineering? I hope they will reassure him. A lot of good universities are offering places in clearing/adjustment too, so that may be a way forward for him if he achieves better than predicted and/or doesn't get the offers he wants initially.

M1, D1 and S1 can all go in either maths or further maths, the same is also true to a lesser extent for the M1,S2 and D2 modules with the extra restriction that you cant put a '2' module in maths without also putting the partner '1' module in. So allowed combinations in maths, together with the core subjects are: M1+D1, M1+S1, D1+S1, M1+M2, S1+S2 or D1+D2. Which of these combinations is used wont be decided until all the results are in and they then place them to give the best grade in maths for the lowest points and the others go to further maths. So you would be given a result A(maths), C(f.maths) in preference to BB for example.

Thanks again.
He wants to do mechanical engineering. Southhampton got back to him straight away and have said that he could still get an offer with the C prediction, so fingers crossed.

mech eng (and most non computing engineering courses) will care far more about mechanics module results than decision ones. Glad Southampton sounds hopeful at least - as you say fingers crossed!
