My son accused of cheating in GCSE maths exam...urgent advice needed please

Hi, my son has been accused of cheating in his GCSE maths exam and I have been informed by the school that there is a possibility all his exam results may be consequently voided. I am close to breaking point and am furiously trying to find some information on how to sort this out. The examining board is EDEXL and their website has no details relating to their policy on cheating.
The only thing my son is guilty of is absent mindedness as he claims that in the exam, he took his calculator out of its case he had forgotten to remove a piece of paper with some revision notes on - when he found the paper he panicked and stuffed it back in the calculator case and carried on with the exam. Another pupil spotted him do this and reported him to the invigulator who approached my son while the exam was still going on and asked him why he was cheating.
The school say they have to report it now and I'm at my wits end as to what is going to happen, surely he can't loose all his other GCSE's because of this?

whilst I know this is a ZOMBIE thread to answer zaynathebeg14's latest post; it is not EDEXCEL accusing anyone of cheating, it is the process that has to be completed.
Invigilators/exam officers are under obligation to report any malpractice. This includes a piece of paper 'hidden' in a calculator case. It is then down to the exam board to review all the evidence and make a final decision. Being a mother has nothing to do with it

I'm know I am a bit late by 5 years but by now I am sure everything I sorted and your son is living his life perfect but I would also like to add that EDEXCEL are outrageous to accuse your son of cheating. The child that told the exam board clearly does not realise that the child was panicking. I do hope everything is sorted from another mother to another mother.

I mean he may not feel guilty now but he probably did try to cheat, it's probably a good thing he was caught because it means he has learnt the importance of doing an exam honestly.
He's going to have to re-take at F.E college and work hard, not tell anyone what he's done. A lad in my year, cheated everyone hates him for being dishonest. College is the perfect opportunity for a fresh start.

To be honest all you can do is explain to his head of year what had happened if you cannot contact the exam board. Request for him to re-take maths.
Just say to him "BE MORE CAREFUL" or contact AQA or OCR to see if he can re-sit maths and his other GCSE's. Just explain that it was perfectly inoocent and make sure that other student is honest as well.
There's not a lot you can do.

Just spotted this, yes he's 16 but he writes on himself with runes and symbols.
He has Asperger's and he thinks it will protect him from malign influences and help him to concentrate. He's been known to write on his clothing with Elven script as well, which with a name like yours, t0lk13n, you might even enjoy. Stress does odd things to people. And if they're a bit odd to start with, things just get odder.

Superstare - I would be very surprised if your son is penalised for more than the one exam he was found to have notes in.

I reported my sons school for cheating. He had that one piece of coursework withdrawn.
