Still massive queues on the Fife side - just had to cancel a long awaited lunch at Orocco Pier in S Queensferry and still have to get over there and back tonight to get DD from airport.

Iamthereasurection Yy, they must have looked at traffic flow so no idea why the road layout is so rubbish.

it seemed pretty permanent north bound, but I can see it might be a bit iffy still southbound....sorting the bus/cycle stuff for the FRB and filtering all other stuff for the QFC..i'll report back :o

we came north yesterday with absolutely no problems at all....except the lorry driver who was apparently too grand for the 40mph limit.

that was just before 11...thought the layout was okay, but admittedly I was busy trying to take photies! :o and I did hear it had backed up later on in the day

we'll be down again next week so will go south for the first time, I shall pay more attention to the layout!

My DH says it's the road layout that's the problem now. 2 hours to get home after leaving straiton at 4pm yesterday.

Took my DH 1 hour to get across last night when they were doing the switch over. It all seems disorganised given it's been getting built for years.

my next trip to the airport is on Monday - when the Queen officially opens the bridge so more traffic chaos!!

just get the damn thing open once and once only and get the bloody traffic moving.

Urgh! I live in North Edinburgh & work in Fife. Yesterday was horrific - a 20 min journey was over an hour & on the way home I thought I was going to miss nursery pickup.

Luckily, my usual rat runs through Rosyth & Inverkeithing worked & I made it in time. Pretty stressful. Today was much better.

Ironically I have tickets for the bridge walk on Saturday & can see it far enough!!

ok, you just need to follow the road round. The inside lane of the slip road will take you into a lane for Bo'Ness, but you just need to merge into the next one over.

TBH its been set up so seamlessly that i didn't initially realise i was on the new route yesterday morning.

Coming from Barnton to Queensferry.

What direction are you coming from Groovee?

Northbound might seem complicated, but you just drive as if you were going to Echline and then the road curves away to the left.

Groovee · 31/08/2017 09:05

It's been a 40mph on the FRB for months since doing the crossing. I hate crossing with the bump bump every few seconds and just want to get over for ages.

Normally I drive up to the echline round about, but I haven't figured out how I get to where I am going with the new roads as local groups are saying it's closed.

oh yikes, we are tootling down next week, have recently been up and down loads what with one thing and another (airport runs...yes of course your father said we'd pick you up!!)

That one lane thing sounds utterly preposterous...and the 40mph limit! If that's going to be the case I hope they have speed cameras up, they would make their money back by christmas!

Think the people who were there just for the drive were being pretty selfish tbh - especially those in rush hour!

Should have been opened on a weekend - that way would have been less traffic as commuters not adding to it.
I knew it would be busy so left Edinburgh early but still ended up late for work.

Edinburgh airport from North is easy. Pretty much the same as before and well signed.

It makes me glad I'm not back at work yet. I work near the Crossing.

Toottootcar · 30/08/2017 22:58

I don't think it's just the sightseers. Friends who crossed today said the roads leading up to it have changed so that there is only one lane for a while then joining another lane of traffic from west Lothian - v v slow moving and that's a road problem not a bridge one.

What? No dunk, dunk, dunk?

Well obviously that does make sense when I think it through, but I have to admit I was expecting the familiar sound effects.
