Does you OH buy you flowers?

Just to satisfy my curiosity, please. Does your OH buy you flowers? My OH seems to think he's a prince among men for buying me flowers occasionally, as apparently not many men do this! From my experience, I'm convinced he's wrong!

@MumChats

Not once! I would love it if he did but he just is not that sort of person. It would never cross his mind! I tell myself that he shows love in different ways - tiny thoughtful (first world) gestures like putting the heated seat on in the car for me before he picks me up!

Grin That's lovely! Still Grin at 'first world' issue.

No, we have a cat so flowers are a no no.

Why is this?

Lilies are poisonous to cats. Not sure about other flowers.

Yes, just every so often. But he's always buying me little treats- beer, wine, cheese, chilli sauce, books etc And cooking things I like. He's very thoughtful.

And when I'm hungover he'll buy me a can of diet coke and a chocolate bar. It's my go to for situations when I feel self inflictedly delicate, and not things we'd usually have in the house.

I also find the majority of bread upsets my stomach so he makes a trip to the bakery most days for a loaf I've found I'm ok with. I would only probably bother going every so often and just go without. He knows this, so goes instead. Don't get me wrong, everyone else eats it too. But they'd all be fine with bread I could pick up on the weekly shop.

He doesn't buy me flowers as they are not really my thing. He does buy me things like my favourite chocolate, a nice dessert or cook something special. I get treats all the time.

He tends to sometimes buy me houseplants/things for the houseplants or different types of beer.

He likes wine and dark chocolate, so thats what I buy him every now and again.

No. Never. I've never been bought a random gift come to think of it.

I can count on 1 hand how many times my H brought me flowers in the 26yrs we have been together.
He does suggest what type of potted plant he would like to see in the flat. And regularly orders chocolates I really like when shopping.
I never understood women's flower mania :) Nice, but dying in front of your eyes. It's more morbid than anything. And you pay to see something slowly die.

@CherryPavlova

PickAChew That’s a tad rude. Ours to waste as we see fit. I don’t happen to think it is a waste. I think, like William Morris “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to beautiful."
I believe flowers are beautiful. They bring pleasure therefore they are not wasted.
Bitterness and cynicism, now they really are wasteful emotions.

I find flowers incredibly beautiful when they're not dying in a jar. Describing a £15 weekly spend on flowers as modest is quite crass, even in your fantasy life.

Yes every week since we became engaged.
Big delivered bouquet only my birthday, anniversary, pre-Christmas, Valentines and on three special shared memory dates.
Rest of time just a Marks and Spencer £15 bunch.

What a waste of money.

In contrast, my ex often bought me flowers, usually the most ridiculously large bouquet he could source, and often with my bank card. Hmm

My husband buys me flowers and he buys my daughter flowers too (although not as often)

No, but he knows I don't particularly like cut flowers. Partly allergies, partly not wanting something that dies in a week.

Yes when I least expect it and not just the obvious occasions.

No. My ex bought me some occasionally for Mother's Day. My current bf has never bought me any. I'm not big into flowers though, will occasionally by myself the reduced ones in Tesco if they're cheap enough (under £3)

Yes, he calls them “just because” flowers. I often come home home to a full blown cheese board and a lovely bottle of red (and I wonder why I’ve gained weight over lockdown !)

Nope, we've been together almost 8 years. He has bought me flowers once, when I got a promotion at work.
Although I'm an oddity here, I actually hate being bought flowers.

Nope, never.
Not even when I gave birth. He's thoughtless.
