It was at a xmas work do once we both left to go home. He was drunk and I was tipsy, at least. We're both single and liked each other for a long time. He took my number.

Before all this he told me he was leaving the job once he'd worked out his notice in the new year.
He wants to date in between times. But my worry is it's going to be sooooo awkward until he leaves.

Also he was pretty forthright about wanting sex as soon as we meet up, which is a bit too soon for me personally. I don't really want FWB or any of that. Oh jesus what if he just pretends it never happened? Or what if he tells everybody and they take the piss endlessly...

Just wanted to get perspectives

Oh wow it just sounds like he wants some fun with you without taking it anywhere

@nothappy1234

So basically i made it clear that I wasn't interested til after he had left this job and the texts came to a halt.

Oh well. At least you now know it was about getting your knickers off. If it hadn't you would have had a text such as let's have a coffee once I've left.

Swerved it there anyway

My ex would say something like 'fine woman'. He is from Yorkshire if that makes a difference .

Grin I'm so glad that you confirmed he's Irish. I was worried for a moment there.

Im not Irish but living in Dublin and “fine woman” is a very Irish expression.

There’s nothing wrong with what he said at all!

Oh dear. Well best to find out now rather than later I suppose. Well played you.

I was once described as a 'fine horse of a woman' by an elderly Irish man. Apparently it is a massive compliment as it suggests I would be helpful on the farm Xmas Grin

I'm Irish. Have been described as a lot of things but never a fine woman!!! Very old fashioned term but perhaps in vino veritas.
I don't think we can judge these things out of context really, I'm sure you will know yourself OP , if you know each other a long time , you would speak differently than to someone you've just met. Your own judgement will see you right.
Enjoy the bit of romance at Christmas.:)

He's from Dublin... but it was a lot of other hints I won't get into now. I'm going to wait it out til he leaves, then maybe get lunch and figure out what he's really looking for. A bit of cooling off won't hurt.

He could just want sex. Play a bit hard to get and make it clear you don't go straight into that kind of thing. Look for clues as to how interested he really is.

If he's really into you, he'd be willing to bide his time until he leaves his job.

When I look back at my past relationships, I just wish I'd taken things so much slower - got to know who they REALLY were before starting a relationship.

Wait what? That doesn’t mean what you claim he’s said.

Ok I take it back. You’re a drama queen.
