If you can't abide John Humphrys or Nicky Campbell...?

Any alternative suggestions please?

Martha and Nick are ok, but having listened for years, I now find Radio 4's Today programme ponderous and irritating. As for John Humphreys, I switch off as soon as I hear his voice.

I like Radio 5 Live's early business coverage (especially Rico!) but I am not devoted to sport or Nicky Campbell.

Where do I go now? Has to be accessible via Internet Radio in Europe Zone One.

'Can't bear Nicky Campbell , when interviewing a contributor he is either a sycophant or a bully depending on his own personal views.

Sprouting
You could get the BBC i Player Radio app and the RTE Radio 1 app - both free and see what / who appeals to you.

I though Johnny Humph handled (if that's the word?) the crazy Tits-Out-For-Brexit Lady very well.

I don't know about Nicky Campbell but I like JH. I find the Today programme seems to have been dumbed down lately.

Mmm can't say I am loving LBC currently but have only listened to 15 mins! And argh didn't know that about Farage lljkk Shock a good reason to avoid!

Yes getting on top of new technology is a bit of a fag and even more, I don't like having to sign up to things/give e-mail addresses/ tick boxes etc as I am very suspicious of what other data one might advertently be giving away!

I don't mind thought for the day so much lljkk (well it depends on who is doing it!) agree producers = dinosaurs! I'm not familiar with those presenters but will listen out for them now!

Feel sorry for Sarah Montague (so?) who had to endure JH all those years. I wonder if she would have swapped with Martha had she known there was a vacancy coming up. She's very good on her lunch time slot though!

Well done sprout! I sometimes just don’t have the mental energy for new tech and then when I do make an effort I wish I had discovered things earlier ! Lbc very mixed bag I find - used to adore Clive bull phone in (was often hilarious) so have always retained a fondness for it.

Farage has a regular slot on LBC (just warning you).

Well what do you know! Have just discovered a loads of apps that allow you to listen to lots of UK radio stations from abroad! Currently listening to LBC (jury is out for the minute).

Thank you again to Heron for helping me with this. Up until today I only sort of vaguely knew you could listen to radio stations via tablets (duh!) Blush when there is a huge world out there of available content.

You could try local radio, if there is local BBC in your area or even (gasp) local music stations. Radio 2 does news bulletins, even R1 does.

Is JH the reason why TodayProgramme still has Prayer for the day & (religious theme) Thought for the day? I loathe the Daily Puzzle even more than those features, tbh. Today's producers appear to be dinosaurs.

I recall Today programme insisting that they had no female presenters b/c "None of the women are good enough." FFS. I wonder what miracles happened to the female talent on offer? Pfffft.

Do we nominate a replacement for JH's spot? Ritulah Shah or Raziah Iqbal? And I can hope for Anita Arnand in future (love that woman; my spellings all wrong, I know).

And thank you, adding BBC Radio Scotland to my list!

That Independent article has made my day - although it doesn’t sound certain enough for my liking!

Agree that World Service is always a good alternative and Good Morning Scotland on BBC Radio Scotland is not as parochial as the name might suggest and gives a rare non London-centric perspective.

Apart from the obvious, I personally resent Humphrys for the fact that all my morning timings are worked to the various features on the Today programme so, if he forces me to turn over, it inconveniences/confuses me and makes not a jot of difference to him!

One can only hope Borntobequiet!

I hope that won't give him free rein to appear on yet more BBC programmes though. Watching him attempt "casual chat" with Mastermind contestants is toe curling enough!
