My hates (and they're almost all hates unfortunately) vary according to who's in the spotlight at the moment. For example, I'm remembering just how much I loathe Kathy, although the Man From the Golf Club is an absurd pantomime villain too.

But I really do hate Hellin, Pip, Lizzy, bitter Will, equally bitter Emmur, Sooosan and JennyDarling. The latter's habit of uttering a breathy little 'Ho!' at the beginning of every sentence is seriously doing my head in these days.

I love Matt, Lynda and Brian but I can't stand Pip or Tom - its their voices and Pat and Kathy especially when they constantly moan.

Love to hate Helen, Brenda, Lillian and Martin Gibson especially when he said to Pat "your's was the e-coli farm". Brilliant!

Unpopular choice, but Linda Snell is not a bad egg. She is kind and thoughtful and committed to stuff, and people are vile to her!

Least favourite.... well, my 'short'list would be Shula, Kathy and Hellin, probably. And Jennyfur. And Nic. And Willyerm. And George.

Lynda, as expounded already is great. Always like Eddie and Joe. Fallon is the best of the younger ones.

Shula is the worst - so nasty to Usha ...have an affair with her fiancée and then later get all sanctimonious about her marrying the vicar.

Emma ... except I rather enjoyed her frank dissing of religion. That takes some balls in a place like Ambridge!

My all-time favourite was Mrs Antrobus. And the Gabriels.

Miss Nigel. Freddie is shaping up to be somewhat of the rich but dim substitute but (perhaps understandably) doesn't have the same joie de vivre - think that early expectation to be the man about the estate will crush his ability for pranks.

Kathy sets my teeth on edge.
Alice is irritating.
Pat is sanctimonious.
And Will is just all round unpleasant.
Helen is amazingly self centered

Quite like Jazzer for just being himself and really felt for him when he fell for Fallon - he could have started a MN thread for that wonder what advice he would have got?

Jim is also moderately amusing for being so very classical.

I used to like Debbie in the days before she was into industrial farming and the profit margin above anything else.

Kate is possibly my most loathed.

Another vote for Linda here. I'm hoping we'll be hearing plenty of her as the temporary manager from hell storyline unfolds. Yesterday's 'of course we were early adopters of earl grey' was genius. little nuggets like that keep me listening.

I've somehow kept missing TA over the last couple of weeks but caught it tonight. Hope Lynda saves the day as this weird Ray bloke causes disaster and gets promoted... I'm sure she could do a much better job of managing the place.

I've been thinking that I might nominate Jill as the worst character, or at least the one with the worst script.
She spent years being Matriarch but now that she is redundant from her wife&mother role she seems to have disappeared into a puff of nothingness. She has morphed into the Invisible Woman.

Brian is wonderful. Jennifer is wonderfully awful and so are Lynda and Susan. Emma is shaping up well to take over from her mother as the Village Shrew. Joe Grundy and Jazzer are OK. I quite liked Lilian until she took up with Paul. Matt is good value but I haven't heard any of the AmEx shenanigans - has he changed out of all recognition? I enjoy hearing Tony moaning. Chris Carter is rather sweet. I like Neil Carter, who is a decent sort, and Kenton, who can be amusing. Don't mind Jolene and Fallon. Jill reminds me of my mum and so I am very fond of her.

Most of the rest are either irritating and bland, or just plain irritating. I don't know which is worse. Not enough 3-d characters at the moment.

Why is it that I find I really like the characters I think I'm supposed to hate (Brian, Linda, Matt, Lilian e.g.) but bloody LOATHE the ones I think I'm meant to like:-
Helen - fuuuuuuckkkkkk I hate this woman. Recent events have had me dry heaving on my commute into work (podcast downloader). Self-righteous, entitled, moaning cow.
Tom - dull as ditchwater.
Tony - not too bad compared to his repellent offspring. At least he has a vague idea of what life in the real world is like.
Alice - irritating posh bint.
Will - aaaaarrrrgh. No one would really put up with him like Nic does. I'd have done him in years ago.
Ruth - I think she'd be ok but that bloody voice!
David - self-righteous old git but actually improving I think.
Lizzie - better since she forgave Dave. But I think it may be time to let Nigel RIP now.

Oooh so glad I found this Archers cornucopia. It's the only soap I follow.
