A friend of mine was talking about cookers this week as we are having a new kitchen, and suggested this cooker as it's the one they have (but not in blue). I had no idea it cost so much. He must think I'm made of money!

It is a beauty. I have to admit to lusting after an aga. However my environmentally friendly hat is wedged on too hard! (the fact that we couldn't afford/fit one in is irrelevant)

No cupboards also = nowhere to keep stuff = anything but chic minimalism (in our house, at least - DD's favourite answer to "where is..." is "in a pile, Mummy")

£5K on a tap is easier than you would think - even bog-standard ones can be £300+ (our was not quite four figures, but close - DH chose it )

If you were to blow the entire budget on it. you might come to regret the complete lack of cupboards/sink/lights at some stage, I feel.

It' not the biggest I have seen - did anyone else see that episode of Grand Designs where idiot couple had a £35K 'cooking centre' - when they did Grand Designs revisited it was clear that it had only ever been used by visiting caterers warming stuff up.
