Neighbours New Pond -Help!!

We have new neighbours who own a one acre piece of land right behind our house. They are applying for planning permission to develop the land for a self build house, orchard and kitchen garden. All okay in principle. However the permission in principle application also shows a VERY big wildlife pond which would sit three metres from our back garden boundary and only 20 metres from my kitchen. We also want to put in an annexe for my elderly parents and the pond would be very close to them too. I am very concerned about this, and so plan to object. Can anyone advise on what to include in this? I've considered flooding, drought - if there's a hosepipe ban what hapoens? What if it's not maintained and we end up with a stagnant rat infested shit pit?! Aaaaargh. We're not the only people who would be affected- there are 6 other houses this would be in similarly close proximity to. Help!
