HELP, my plug sealant is discoloured!

Sorry, not the most exciting topic Blush I recently changed the plug on my bathroom sink as the closing mechanism on the previous one was broken. I used clear sealant around the new one but within a few days it had gone all yellow and nothing I have used to clean it has worked. Any ideas on how I can make it look better please?!

Cut it out & re-do with white sealant.

It's hard to explain but there's a dip around the plug and so water was sitting in there and not draining away... the sealant has solved that problem by making it nice and level but now it looks all manky.

Yes there should have been a foam washer to cushion it against the sink, and the actual seal is on the bottom, so there is no point in sealing there. Just scrape it all off.

Why did you use sealant?

Most plugs don't need it.
