We moved into our house a year ago and it backs onto a park which is lovely but there are times when we feel a little more vulnerable to break-ins then we normally would. We live in a good area, but unfortunately break-ins can happen anywhere and last summer there was an attempted break-in on our property.
We cant afford an alarm system so the police officer suggested putting up a dummy one and a dummy cctv camera which we have done, along with taking steps to secure the back of the property more.
Im worried because we have an extension at the rear of the house which has a flat roof and my sons bedroom is above the extension. So in theory someone could get up on the flat roof (they'd need something to climb up on). Im worried because i have visions of burglars, or pedophiles trying to get in in the middle of the night (i know this may sound a bit over the top but you hear of some awful things now and i am a worrier) As the summer months are approaching im worried in case we leave a small opener open in my sons room on a hot night, someone might get in. I always thought no one could get in through one, but the police officer we saw said that she's known people to be able to get through smaller openings than a small opener before!
Has anyone else had the same/similar worry and found a solution? Are there any locks or anything i could install to stop someone entering but allow the window to be left open somewhat?
Thanks
