Cavity Wall Insulation

I had a man knock on my door earlier saying I could get free cavity wall insulation under a scheme being run from British Gas. The man in question was from a company called Zero Carbon. I'm not on any benefits and have a slightly about average household income.

This is rubbish right?

look here

CWI, and loft top-up, and I think they do pipes in loft at the same time. They are a reputable company, they did my CWI and I was very pleased with the job.

Last time I checked you didn't even have to be a BG customer.

I had the Mark Group do mine for free in January under the "hard to treat" category. The admin side was appalling, they turned up unexpectedly, cancelled just before they were due to install etc etc, but once they finally turned up they were great. They also insulated my loft. I'm not on any benefits. The house is a lot warmer.

They hope to get a subsidy which will be bigger than the cost of installing ut.

I say, if you want CWI, contact your gas and electricity suppliers, and BG, yourself, and see if you qualify. IME they are more trustworthy reliable than doorsteppers, and they have a reputation to protect. Look at Martins Moneysaving for more info. Tell doorsteppers to clear off.

If the doorstepper gets your name and signature (or forges it) he will register you as his customer so no other company can get the subsidy or commission.
