Thanks Tap you we've gone for the Franke Minevra 3 in 1 tap. It does do all three and gets to boiling point.

You can alter the temperature but they are not boiling, the only one at 100 degrees is a quooker and the price is horrific.

Even Heston Blumenthal's Sage kettle offers different temperatures depending on the drink, so he reckons 80 degrees for green tea, 85 degrees for white tea, 95 for coffee and 100 for black tea.

I drink white tea and I feel it tastes nicer when you haven't scolded the tea bag with boiling water.

It heats up the water in a small tank and keeps it within a temperature range. I have been using mine for 9 months and love it. So when you use some of the water you can hear it re-heating the water. Plus mine has the filter attached so it is filtered water too.

Are they really "on the boil" boiling though? I bought a breville hot cup to make tea and it just wasn't hot enough.
I only pour water on the tea bag when it's actually on the boil.
Would love one if it was hot enough though.

So re drilling, I have a Franke sink with a tap hole at the back in the middle, then the Insinkerator is cut through the worktop.

I have the Insinkerator H3300 tap, so hot water only like this one

I matched that to a normal kitchen tap with a pull out spray thing, it was only £158 and it was this one

You can't do without a normal tap. I do use the boiling water tap to help to fill the sink for washing things because my normal hot water tank is very far away from the kitchen so it takes forever to come through. But it won't fill a sink as the tank is too small, but it is fab for washing out pans etc and making cups of tea!

Re safety, you have to push the level down and then push it backwards. Like a normal kitchen tap it sits at the back of the sink, but on the worktop with the spout over the sink.

Are there any safety buttons on the boiling half? like you need to press and turn or anything? I really like the idea of one but I'm scared my toddler would get scalded if she got up there?

I know the Minerva 3 in 1 tap is an all in one but it's 250 more expensive than the Franke one, but then if I have to get another tap and have a second hole cut out it's probably nit that much more expensive..hmmmm

I just googled the insinkerator tap, and you can get one that dispenses both boiling and cool water, as well as ones that are boiling water only.

Not sure which model I have but I have a boiling water tap and it's completely separate from the main tap so yes you do still need a hot&cold or mixer tap. It's a much smaller flow than a normal tap so would take forever to fill the sink to fill the sink to wash up. Would recommend it though, could not go back to having a kettle now!

We have a different brand of boiling water tap. Ours has boiling water on one side, and a normal mixer tap on the other, but the water comes out of the same spout, IYSWIM?

I have a feeling it's a Franke.
