Do you think this sounds hopeful (mortgage)

Mortgage broker put in my application on Thursday with all payslips etc. Got AIP immediately. Home report (Scotland) was sent to lender (Nationwide) but today found out that the surveyors aren't on their accepted panel so have now arranged another survey (which luckily first lot will reimburse me for - for some reason, haven't quite figured out why Confused) Would they bother asking for another survey if they weren't happy I was a good bet for offering a mortgage to? Am desparate to move but don't want to start looking forward to it if it all falls apart at the last moment and I don't get a mortgage offer.

We have just had a similar experiance with our solicitor in that our lender would only deal with certain solicitors so we had to change (twice) - I think that lenders are now so reluctant to lend and the due dilligence is so tight that they are nearly all being specific regarding the criteria of the other professional involved.

The AIP is the important bit and that nearly always leads to an offer in writting. - Good luck.

Thanks narmada am keeping everything crossed Grin How long did you have to wait after the survey until the mortgage decision came through?

My broker said that lenders don't usually instruct a valuation survey unless they've made the decision to lend. In our case valuation was follwed by mortgage offer (mortgage from Nat West) Fingers crossed for you. Know how it feels to be desperate to move.
