EYFS Profile - can I request a copy?

Just that really. DD2 is coming to the end of Reception. Have just had her end of year report, which reveals her lack of confidence at school and is generally a bit lacklustre about what she can do. They don't seem to be getting to know the child that I know at home

I'm curious to see her EYFS profile, to get an idea of what they've been able to observe her doing, compared to what she can do at home when she's feeling confident. Not sure what I could do about it, but it would be interesting to read.

They don't give EYFS "scores" with the end of year reports - just a written commentary on six areas of learning.

We can go in and see their EYFS profile any time, and when DD left reception we were given a copy of hers.

Maybe you will get it at end of term?

Our reports go out next week but the 'learning journeys' with post-its, photos, observations, profile etc. will go out at the end of term. We are still adding to them you see!

Go and talk to them as to why she's different at home. That's what matters, not what numbers she's getting. Might just be a reception thing anyway. They change a lot in Yr1, so you could wait and see how she gets on there.

We don't give parents copies of the profile but share the information at parent meetings and you certainly have the right to ask to see it.

You should have access to the record keeping or learning journey that has been collected over the year. I always ask parents to contribute too so if there is an area I haven't been able to observe or get information on, it can be useful to ask parents for examples from home and other environments. The eyfs says that parents should be involved in the process as learning happens continuously and not just at school. It is worth discussing with the class teacher about your concerns, but smee is right its not about the numbers. Hope this helps.

smee - I'm really not worried about the numbers - it's more that I'd like to get some insight into what they are able to observe her doing and I think the profile might show me that.

I think I'll ask if I can see it, in the context of talking about how we can help her feel more confident at school. It's a bit concerning to read that she's "beginning to attempt" to do things that she does with ease at home!!!

I agree Smithagain, it does sound a bit strange. Go talk to them and see what they say.
