Don't like teachers!

I am worried about my DD age 4.5yrs who started reception in September. Every day when I drop her off I can't help thinking I don't blame her for not wanting to go. The teachers (job share) never seem interested and sometimes don't even say hello, she just has to wander in on her own.

Her behaviour at home has deteriorated and she has started misbehaving at school too. At home its violent tantrums and at school ignoring the teachers or being disruptive during quiet time. She doesn't seem herself and we have observed at children's parties and in the playground that she is a bit of a loner and doesn't want to join in.

She used to be really bubbly and friendly and school seems to have changed her for the worse. Is this a normal transitional change, or is she really unhappy, and should be thinking about another school or something?!

So worried!!

Glad to hear you've sorted out a place at another school - it's really not usual for teachers to seem so uncaring, and I'm sure you'll see a difference in her very soon. Children often do act up a bit when they start school, because of the tiredness, but you should be able to tell the difference between your child's "normal" tired moods and unhappiness.

Insider333, I have just read some of your posts on this thread, and it seems to me you are assuming all teachers are useless.

I am a governor at my dcs school, and I can say that all the staff have the children's welfare at heart, and so do the governors. We all work hard to improve the school, and it is definitely improving.

The atmosphere is very happy, the children love being there, and the headteacher is inspirational. My dcs teachers have always had time to chat about my children, answer questions, etc. Not at all like you describe.

Sadly, the majority of state run schools are holding pens. Remember the saying: "Those that can, do, those that can't, teach." and those that can't teach, become headteachers. Teaching is a fall back option for people who can't make a living doing what they would like to do.......

meh

Insider333, I am really interested to know what makes you so differently from your colleagues. Do you rate your skills above theirs and if so why? This is a genuine question btw. Why are you so dismissive of 'most' teachers?
