Hi OP

I've sent you a PM with the details of a tutor.

Many kids do it and are fine though and it saves doing the 11+ which is much tougher.

I just think it's morally wrong to put a 6 or 7 year old through such a process. Obviously, as a parent, you want the best for your child and are going to go through the process to get your child into a particular school. I think the schools are the ones at fault in making such in depth judgements on such young children.

@chocaholic73 Prep schools are usually everyone's backup at 7 (as those who have properly prepared at 7 don't want to do it again a few years later) so they don't have to assess as fully as they know most will turn them down so they can make lots of offers.

I'm actually shocked by this description of the 7+. There is no way I could have put my DD through that at that age. She did an assessment day for a prep school at that age. She spent the day in the Year 2 class (where she was being observed although she wouldn't have realised that). During that time a couple of informal tests took place which the whole class did. That description sounds only slightly less formal than the 11+ which my DD did take. Putting her in for that was not a decision that my DH and I took lightly as they are still very young even then and we definitely felt it put her under pressure, although she did well.

Don't know one in your area but you are right to look. @chocaholic73 the 7+ is a competitive maths/story writing/comprehension/verbal reasoning/non-verbal reasoning exam and most children are tutored.

Surely at that age, it'll be more observation and assessment. It seems awful to tutor her at such an early age.
